Willingham and Olsen recalled

Featured Replies

OMG WILLINGHAM!!!

Could a deal involving Enc be near?

  • Author

why call him up to languish on the bench? They are either going to showcase him or trade Encanarcion and try him in the OF...

Florida Marlins - Designated pitcher Travis Smith and infielder Joe Dillon for assignment; recalled catcher Joshua Wittingham from Albuquerque of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); purchased the contract of pitcher Scott Olson from Carolina of the Southern League (AA).

:plain Wittingham.

It's good to see the FO finally grew some cajones, now it's up to Jack to make sure Willingham will be starting on a regular basis otherwise this move is pointless.

As far as Olsen goes, best case scenario he does amazing like D-Train in 2003 when he was called up, worst case scenario he turns into the 2005 version of last year's Logan Kensing.

Doubt any deals are imminent -- Willingham just serves more of a purpose on the bench than Dillon with Lo Duca ailing.

Don't like the Olsen call up one bit -- rushing yet another kid? Idiotic.

That makes entirely too much sense for this board. Go sit in a corner.

Nice to hear they finally called Willy up. Don't like the idea of Dillon leaving though. But who cares, if this helps us win, I'm all for it!

I'm thrilled Willingham is getting called up, but if he sits all the time this is a waste of time. They don't do anyone any favors calling them up and having them pinch hit every three weeks.

I'm hoping for big things from Olsen, but I'm not expecting them.

And alas, the savior arrives.

Olsen might not be as bad as you think, Kensing only has two pitches...a fastball and a sinker and he was coming from A ball....what i understand about Olsen is he has amazing stuff and coming from AA ball, still a youngin for sure, and it still might end up being bad in the end, but i dont feel as uneasy calling Olsen up as compared to Kensing last year

It's too good to be true.

Now let's get them into the lineup/rotation. Can they be the spark this team needs?

In the jungle the mighty jungle OMGRAMP will sleep tonight!owumbaye owumbayo owanboye oooEEEEEooooeeeooohhheee

They could be showcasing Olsen....his name has been brought up in trade rumors before....starting against the putrid D-Rays is pretty convenient if you ask me.

I wouldn't be as worried if he hadn't gotten mistaken for a Christmas tree his last start

But yanevaknow

Ramp, for you and all the Willingham fans I'm thrilled Willy is being called up.

I hope he is the next Miguel Cabrera. :thumbup
