Burnetts Start tonight

Recommended Posts

knowing the type of guy that AJ is, especially with him figuring that he's not gonna be on the team after this start, given that he makes it, do you really think he'll give 100% tonight? i would say no, except for the fact that either HE wants this trade done or he wants to go out there for his own recrod and ntry and get a W and strike out 27 batters

Lock this thread. No more predictions at all. Please. See what happened with the Scott Olsen start last time.

this isn't a prediction, frankly i don't care what he does, i'm just saying him being on our ballclub the last fefw years we've got to know the player he is, and just wondered if people thought he'd give it his ALL

for the record there have been starts where it doesnt look like he has been focused.

whether you want to call that as giving it his all or not, there have been times when he hasnt been fully there.

The comment that he'll intentionally try to do anything less than 100% is not right. However, the distractions in his mind may not allow him to perform at 100%. But AJ at even 70% could translate into a great start. No way to predict what may happen. Personally, the thought of watching tonight's game looms heavy for me. It's like knowing there could be a train wreck sometime between 10-12 tonite, and lying a blanket down on a hill by the side of the tracks to watch it possibly happen.

NO pitcher or player goes out on the field not wanting to do their best. They certainly didn't get this far not trying. There have been more idiotic comments on this forum lately. It's starting to get on my nerves more than the Marlins losing!

I'm with you...it seems that whenever a Marlins player doesn't play well, everyone starts talking about them not giving their all or not trying hard enough. Unfortunately, baseball is a game played by 2 teams that are both trying to win the game. You can try as hard as you want, but there will be plenty of nights where either you don't play well and/or the other team plays better...it doesn't mean the team isn't trying.

He's been playing this whole year to get a FAT contract from a team like the Yankees at the end of the year, I expect him to do the same today...

Felo, with your keen eye for the game(sic) have you noticed a difference in effort this year as opposed to previous years?

You're all talking about him like he's an uncle on his death bed. It looks likely right now like that he'll be traded, but you never know. Beinfest has surprised us before. I don't see him settling for a Bigbie trade. We may wind up keeping AJ if the right deal doesn't come along. At least, let's not bury him and throw dirt on top until it's official.
