Beckett and Lowell traded to Red Sox

Featured Replies

If they are doing this they just better clean house...get rid of Delgado, JP, and Lo Duca.

Seriously, no point in half-assing it. This team can't compete next year, as is. Take away Delgado, and I don't know what the hell we have anymore.

As of this moment, our rotation is awful. Yeah, there's some guys with potential there, but really we have one bona fide starter.

Good to see Marlins are paying a chunk of Lowell's salary according to ESPN article...

are you serious?

I figure we'll move JP for a SP now

JP and LoDuca would be a good fit in Arizona.. maybe we could swing them for Vazquez and cash.. and hopefully get Shoppach from the BoSox to replace LoDuca as the PTBNL.

Just thinking out loud

We need a CF in return. Aguila ain't cuttin it.

Kenny Lofton

Oooh, maybe trade for Ryan Church. If Jim Bowden gets Juan Encarnacion, who he's been after since being named GM of the Nats, Church would be their 4th outfielder along with Marlon Byrd, Terrmel Sledge and some toolsy outfielders.

I am absolutely HORRIFIED and incredibly sad! I find it difficult to understand how some of you can be so happy with this.

A pitcher with the mental toughness to go with that kind of talent is extremely rare. How often do you draft a guy like that? The answer is once -- if you're very lucky. A team "built around pitching" that trades away Josh Beckett makes no sense.

I understand the financial situation and was grudgingly resigned to losing Delgado and anyone else but the "creative one" could have certainly found a better way.

Unless the Marlins know something we don't about those 2 MRIs, this is heartwrenching!

I can't help but think this is why we had to renew our season tickets early. Like Girardi, I thought we could count on at least having Beckett, Willis and Cabrera.

Delgado to the Mets for Nady and Jacobs (and Petit?) ??

C - Shoppach

1B - Jacobs/Conine

2B - Luis

3B - Cabs

SS - Hanley

LF - Willingham

CF - Nady

RF - Hermida

SP - DTrain

SP - Vazquez

SP - Vargas

SP - Free Agent (Tomko?)

SP - Olsen/Johnson

Not the prettiest team.. but whatever.

That's a strong club. 3rd place in the division. Vazquez is do-able, as I've pointed out before... the Yankees are paying for everything but $8M yearly of his contract, but there will be other bidders for his services to compete in a bidding war with.

OK, so couldn't they get Anibal and/or Hanley for Burnett straight up before the break?

So now we have to give up Beckett and even send money for Lowell. Brilliant

In Beinfest we Trust?

What the? :crying

Someone comfort me :fit

That is exactly the way I feel! I can't even find comfort in watching my '03 postseason tapes because it's just too painful.

Pitching wins championships. When did our FO forget that? All of those guys gone, and what to show for it?

Some draft pick

Lo Duca, Mota + Encarnacion - Encarnacion out, Mota in the sh*t house and Lo Duca on the way out

Some draft pick

Prospects.

You've gotta be kidding me.

Exactly. Pierre's not likely to hold up through the next contract he'll command at the end of the season; Delgado's not likely to either and his salary is about to jump; and LoDuca was paid for his reputation more than on-field production to begin with. This are bad investments. However for a club that actually has the revenue base to continually rely on expensive overpaid free agents and may be in the market for a 1B, C or CF this year will find those all reasonably priced.

I'll have a tear in my eye everytime i buy a souvenir sized soda and get that Marlin World Series cup because I truly believe that have an unlimited supply of those cups.

You forget we have tremendous pitching talent in our system. Thats what allows our front office to go out and do deals like this.

As much I don't like Beinfest (more for his skills relating to players, agents and co-workers than his scouting expertise), Burnett was held onto because the club though the 2005 could compete for the playoffs as of the trade deadline.

Prospects pile up and most do not pan out. The goal is to put a competitive team on the field each season. How many of our prospects are major league ready? Are we looking at a rotation with 3 or 4 rookies? If so, we're looking at a losing season.

The Marlins in 06 are shaping up to look like a team that is the product of a fantasy draft.

I am crying right now.. Seriously! I have mascara all over my face :lol

The good thing is that we have a bunch of talent in the system and that this team could be contending again as soon as 07. I dont think we could have said that after the original firesale

Are. You. f***ing. Serious.

We were negotiating with a team that DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A f***ING GM! And you have to pay part of Mike Lowell's salary?

Holy crap my f***ing dog could do a better job with this f***ing team.

Stability. That's all I f***ing ask. Sta-bi-li-ty.

That's terrible!

Hmm. I wonder just how much cash. This could affect whether more trades are still in the offing.

Someone tell me about Ramirez, I don't know anything about him, scouting report?

How is he defensively/offensively?

God's gift to the short stop position.
