November 22, 200520 yr why wouldnt they just name Shoppach if it was him? IMO its some one from this year's draft class Ya I seriously doubt it's Shoppach...Would be nice, though
November 22, 200520 yr this could be good for us. Remember we had a great team last year... on paper. We needed to make changes. Besides, you guys are really overplaying both Beckett and Lowell. Sure they were great for us in 03, but everyone has complained about Beckett's injury problems, and you all wanted us to deal Lowell. Unlike the last fire sale, in the end we will have 2 proven All-Stars (Cabs and D-Train) still on the team. You add Hermida and HanRam to the equation with Cabs, and Vargas/Olsen/ a number of other ptichers in our system and we'll have a good team in the future. It's not like we're getting scrubs.
November 22, 200520 yr Hate to see JB go, but oh well. I must say this makes the Red Sox favorites for the '06 World Series title.
November 22, 200520 yr Pardon me while I cry. IF this move allows you to keep Delgado, is it worth it?No, but it's a moot point anyways because he's probably next to go. And if they don't get both Milledge and Petit for him I'll take my sledge hammer to my neighbor's car.
November 22, 200520 yr Nice move by Beinfest to clear salary plus get some real value in return! Projected salary is now just below $55M. I hope this is good enough and the FO can now take a deep breather since Lowell is moved.
November 22, 200520 yr i dont really see this as a firesale its more retooling than anything else. Something that teams with our revunue need to do, just look at the A's. We'll be ok as long as Beinfest plays his cards right. In Beinfest we Trust...
November 22, 200520 yr Hey maybe LoDuca's making too much too. Perhaps they'll deal Cabrera & attach LoDuca's contract along with it. :banghead I am not happy.
November 22, 200520 yr Gammons ended his SC "Breaking News" segment saying that the Fish will move Delgado as the final move to get below 50 million for '06.
November 22, 200520 yr Anyway, that lineup seems good to me, actually Yes.. I am surprisingly comfortable with it.

I hope this is good enough and the FO can now take a deep breather since Lowell is moved. why stop there? We don't have the team to content anyways. Let's do this rebuilding right, and hopefully we can be in the mix by 2007
November 22, 200520 yr Gammons ended his SC "Breaking News" segment saying that the Fish will move Delgado as the final move to get below 50 million for '06. Oh, so they're going to tear open our chests and hold a knife over it, but not deliver the blow? Give me a f***ing break. I can't wait to hear the slogans for next season.
November 22, 200520 yr The 2006 Marlins team will be all young studs learning the game at the highest level...we need to support them...these young players will, one day, surprise alot of people when they are playing for a division title and believe me it will not take long.....These are some of the best first year players in the game today...give them a chance to play together and watch what happens
November 22, 200520 yr If they are doing this they just better clean house...get rid of Delgado, JP, and Lo Duca.
November 22, 200520 yr Burnett, Beckett, Penny, and Pavano gone wow. That pretty much sums it up there. All gone in a what, a seaon & a half?
November 22, 200520 yr If they are doing this they just better clean house...get rid of Delgado, JP, and Lo Duca. I wouldn't get rid of Duca until we know for sure that we can get a young catching spect Burnett, Beckett, Penny, and Pavano gone wow. That pretty much sums it up there. All gone in a what, a seaon & a half? So what? We've had Beckett, Burnett and Penny since the turn of the century. How many teams keep their pitchers for 5 or more years?
November 22, 200520 yr If they are doing this they just better clean house...get rid of Delgado, JP, and Lo Duca. I'm with you. None of them are young, and would command way too much money by the time this team is ready

November 22, 200520 yr Good to see Marlins are paying a chunk of Lowell's salary according to ESPN article...
