November 22, 200520 yr Kris* Harvey Stokes can swing for power. He has yet to shown he can hit for average consistently, command the strike zone or play adequate defense. His biggest problem though is staying healthy.

Anibal Sancez Yo Penn - at least basketball's getting started. Good win for us tonight with such a banged up squad, but too bad I had to come home to this inevitable news. Lets hope that these guys pan out and best of luck to Josh and Mike. At least they're not Yankees or with another NL team.
November 22, 200520 yr I find it difficult to believe the Marlins will trade Delgado within their division. Look for him to find a home in Baltimore or at least out of harm's way in AL, or in the NL West. It's a seller's market. Sell. Exactly. It's a sellers market. Rape the Mets in a trade. We could get a very strong bullpen pitcher in Petit(IMO I think that is where he is best suited), and get Lastings Milledge. Having Milledge and Hermida roaming both corners of the outfield gives me a fun tingly feeling. We will not compete next season most likely anyway, take their talent. That sets us up better for the future.

He was pounded for 3 runs on 5 hits in just two-thirds of an inning for Magallanes a couple of nights ago. Sanchez's ERA 9.82. I would hope now that his a Fish Beinfest would shut him down b/c it appears he's still recovering from that late seaon injury. Did the Sox eat all of Lowell's contract? That's the most important thing. nope

If Delgado is moved we could easily end up in the 40's depending upon who we sign to fill the rotation and bullpen.

November 22, 200520 yr Look I know a lot of you are upset about losing Beckett and Lowell but let's face it, the days of a team keeping its core players together for 7 or 8 years are over unless you are a NY Yankees fan. I root for the team, and the players on the current roster. Our GM, can't get into emtional attachments. He's got a jigsaw puzzle he's got to assemble every season and sometimes the parts that fit last year aren't the ones that are going to fit this year. Certainly cost cutting is factor, but only because we were overpaying for the Lowell/Beckett combo. We just can't afford to have underperforming contracts on our payroll. Beckett is guy (like Pavano before him) who the market will overvalue because the market always overvalues SPs with "potential". Beckett is a big game pitcher. Unfortunately the big games only come after you make 35 regular starts during the season. And he seems like the kind of guy that doesn't get up for a Tuesday afternoon start against the nationals. I would have liked the Blalock deal more, because he's a legitimate masher and another left handed batter for the line-up, but I guess the idea is to get Cabs to his more natural 3rd base position.
November 22, 200520 yr I liked Josh as a Marlin, but I always feared that a year or 2 down the road that his blisters will get worse or he'll punch a dugout wall and break his hand in a year that he is owed a lot of money and then his trade value is hardly worth anything. If Boston takes all the money for Lowell as well, this trade may actually benefit the Marlins. Josh finally broke double digits in wins, but I doubt he'll ever win more than 18+ a season because of his blisters or his anger control in the dugout...

I heard it from a Red Sox fan, so I'm guessing the source is somewhere out of RSN - most likely SOSH - although that's just speculation on my part. Who was recently added to the 40-man roster (to spare him from the Rule V draft) and thus ineligible to be a Player To Be Named Later. Now, a player to be released to the press later or after finalizing the trade, yes.
