April 26, 200619 yr I believe Petit will be called up and Nolasco will be put in the rotation as well I believe Moehler will go to long relief and Mitre should be traded   Very inteligent post up until this point.  One question............. WHY??????
April 26, 200619 yr If Mitre is traded, it won't be until the deadline. I won't rule this out as a possibility, as a contender might be looking for a number four or five guy, while at that point we may be wanting to take a look at some of our guys who might have a higher ceiling. It's not something I'm expecting, but it can't be ruled out.
April 26, 200619 yr guys mitre is not doing bad at all... all he needs to do is stay away from the homer and he could win 12 games easily
April 26, 200619 yr All I know is that Moe needs to be out of the rotation. Mitre isn't doing bad at all. He keeps us in the games and thats all we can ask.
April 26, 200619 yr Mitre is doing fine but I'd still like to see guys who are in our long term plans in our rotation instead.. I'd love to see DTrain, Vargas, Olsen, Nolasco and Johnson as the rotation.. what would it hurt? I say keep Petit in AAA until he is needed in the rotation so he can keep working.  Olsen is a stud though.. so happy we didnt trade him for Mendoza Gathright.
April 26, 200619 yr I'll tell you who I think wouldn't be a terrible idea to trade at the deadline: Vargas. 1) He's cheap, young, and under control for 5 more seasons, so that gives him increased value to any interested team. 2) He's left-handed. 3) He's probably an odd man out in the future rotation of this team, and as talented as he has shown he is capable of being, we've got equal or better in the minors and I think he may be the greatest piece of value we can move to fill centerfield. I mean, what team wouldn't be interested in acquiring a young left-handed starter who is making the major league minimum and won't break the bank for a while, if ever. Have to give to get and I think he could bring, in season, quite a good position player in return.
April 26, 200619 yr I dunno TS... I just think the poise he shows for his age is something you don't want to lose no matter who you have waiting in the wings.

April 26, 200619 yr Trade Moehler for Melky Cabrera. The Yankees will jump at the opportunity to trade a prospect for an aging starter
April 26, 200619 yr I dunno TS... I just think the poise he shows for his age is something you don't want to lose no matter who you have waiting in the wings.  I'm not berating him in the slightest, but how much more valuable is that 7th starter when there is such a glaring void in center? I mean, this could be the rotation in August: Willis, Mitre, Olsen, Johnson, Petit/Sanchez/Moehler/Nolasco. Do we really need Vargas to be a part of that more than we need a Jeremy Reed type in centerfield?
April 26, 200619 yr Or we could be the first team in MLB history to throw a 7 man rotaiton.. with DT going every 5 days of course. /pointless post :mischief
April 26, 200619 yr guys i totally would agree to trade moehler for melky cabrera butmitre is still under us for like 4 seasons maybe five he is still only 25
April 26, 200619 yr I understand your reasoning for wanting to trade vargas, but you have to weigh what your options are... Hopefully it is safe to say that Willis and Olsen will be part of the rotation long term... Then you are looking at Vargas/Johnson/Nolasco/Petit/Sanchez fighting for the final 3 spots Yusmeiro and Anibal need to prove themselves in the majors before I can deem them as better longterm options than JV
April 26, 200619 yr Moe really has no trade value at all I think you were misquoted, Moe really has no trade value, except to the Yankees, at all. There that's better
April 26, 200619 yr Moe really has no trade value at all I think you were misquoted, Moe really has no trade value, except to the Yankees, at all. There that's better lol, I wish
April 26, 200619 yr I'd move Vargas to the pen as a left specialist before I would consider trading him. Now Mitre is definitely a guy to dangle out as trade bait at the deadline if we can bring in a strong 2B, CF, or C prospect.
April 26, 200619 yr I wonder if Mitre would be traded for bullpen help at the dedline.. I agree with someone's earlier post... At some point the rotation should be all "kids" after the Train
April 26, 200619 yr Before the end of the year I would like to see a rotation of Willis, Sanchez, Olsen, Petit, Vargas / Mitre. I think Johnson and Nolasco should stay in the pen if not traded.
April 26, 200619 yr I'm not ready to dump on Mitre. He's been just a couple of pitches (that wound up home runs) from having a very solid start to the season. I don't think he'll be in the rotation once it's all sorted out though. I think he'd be great in the pen personally, but would probably be trade bait before that happenes. Nolasco looked terrific today, I hope he gets a shot soon.
April 26, 200619 yr Author Why?...Mitre is the pitcher with the less upside and the one with the most trade value besides D-Train...Texas Rangers or Devil Rays would love to have Mighty Mite in thir rotation right now and they are two of the teams with the deepest farm system talent...Evan the Yanks would love Mitre as a 5th starter if they want to remain competitive with the Red Sox
April 26, 200619 yr I think trade value will be key with Mitre... If the Marlins have a lot of high upside young pitchers clamoring for a rotation/bullpen spot, Mitre (and Moe) might be dealt to a team that needs to solidify the back end of a rotation and might have relievers to offer that could strengthen one of the Marlins glaring weaknesses... Normally, in an ideal world, I would keep Mitre and keep him in the rotation but right now this team still has to move the Rubik's Cube around a bit more to get everything aligned to where they need it....
