imagine what it feels like to be a cubs fan :whistle :shifty

I'm feeling that right now....we have become the Cubs -- the South Version

Where is the Gammons article ? He hates Loria and the Marlins, he's never said anything nice about them. Even in 2003 he picked against them every game.

he had an espn insider article saying how in all the years he has covered baseball he has never seen an organization with as much young pitching talent as the marlins have and how great han ram will be and etc...run a search and im sure you can find it somewhere on the site

Oh he only said that because he is puckered and attached to John Henry's a**hole. Henry made the trades of Red Sox players, so of course they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

yeah...i guess petit and nolasco and johnson are all garbage huh...dude get a clue!

Yeah Petit was great last nite :whistle

just in case you fail to see it, but people make mistakes, i hit a rabbit with my car last summer, petit made a bad pitch, dontrelle has 4 losses and a high era, miggy has made 10 errors already...i guess we just all suck at life, except the great heywood whom GOD made perfect in every facet of life...petit is a rookie, his mistakes will be glaring at times as will all the other rookies and some of the vets...we are a bad team learning to get better...cant you get that through your rather thick skull?

But nite after nite the same mistakes ? Something has got to give -- you either learn or you aren't good enough. I'm afraid we have a bunch of guys just not good enough.

Now what do you do ? Your owner is cash poor, and can't afford FA's even if you can get them to look our way. So no FA's, no players in your system that you can trade with, draft picks refusing to sign with the team.

This organization is a total mess -- from top to bottom totally worthless. And of course Loria blames it all on the fans....remember he said it was all the fans fault.

Who is worse, Loria or Huizenga?

Loria, Huizenga, Henry. They've all sucked. I pray for the day that this team gets a real owner who is serious about the sport and not just money or his own ego.

If our organization is so worthless top to bottom(which is not anywhere near true...if I am mistaken our farm system is top 3, if not #1 overall), why dont you go cheer for another team?

Because they are my hometown team. I root for them no matter what. You may not think that, but the reason I am so ticked off about them is because I do root for them.

It was the very one he COULDN'T leave up there. He did, and its another loss.

Heywood that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

I'm not so sure. I am close to a few of the guys on the U of Miami team and they have said they would never sign with the Marlins. The Marlins are a total joke with most college ballplayers. I think its a legitimate concern.

Who are you close to?

As a matter a fact I'm gonna talk to my dawg Anthony (who I know from our days at H.A.A.) and ask him what players think about playing for the fish.

So no FA's, no players in your system that you can trade with, draft picks refusing to sign with the team.

Free agents will go where ever there is money. I'd prefer we raise our own talent than sign overpriced veterans. That is why the Pirates and Royals will never be good. They don't want to hurt their fan base enough to go with a full rebuilding, so they'll sign one or two old guys to make it look like they are trying. We are in much better shape than either of those teams.

Who are the players in our system we can't trade with? All of our stud pitchers? And which draft picks have refused to sign?

But that is the problem, there is NO money. Loria won't spend it.

And we don't need free agents. For the most part, free agents make way more than they should with their guaranteed contracts, and half of the time they don't pan out. I'd rather see Mike Jacobs struggle out there every day for 335k at least looking like he's trying than see Todd Helton making 15 million dollars even if he produces at a much higher level.

Then you are guarenteeing a 90+ loss almost every year, unless you catch lighting-in-a-bottle with the players like we have now. Its a real gamble, and it usually doesn't pan out. That also doesn't help the team to gain fans. It perpetuates the culture of losing, such as has happened in Tampa Bay and now in Kansas City.

I remember the days in the 1980's when the Royals were one of the better organizations in MLB. Those days are long gone because of the craziness in MLB economics.

No, doing a half rebuilding is gauranteeing 90+ losses. How many free agents did we sign in the last 3 years prior to this one. Pudge, Jones, Benitez, and Delgado. And 2 of those helped us win the Series, and Jones and Benitez were those lightning in a bottle guys. Free agents are always far from a sure thing, and if you can get good players from your organization it is always better.

heywood...ok...here is something you are going to have to understand...MIAMI has south beach and lots of gorgeous women all over the place(see holly and Rachel)...any franchise from miami short of the Miami Hooters will never have a problem attracting free agents...nationally miami might not be seen as a great sports town...but then again, alot of people in south florida are scube diving, golfing, getting their groove on and watching sports from the comfort of their air conditioned living room...and if you give a kid getting drafted such as my lil cuz the option of getting paid to play baseball for any organization vs. going to class and not getting paid to play baseball...85% of them will take the pay...trust me on this one buddy...you have taken alot of flak on this thread and its because you wrong...now can some mod please close this up for me

Well of course its better the develop your own, just look at the Atlanta Braves and Oakland. These guys we have now, are not really part of the Marlins future -- if you believe they are your nutz. These guys are stopgap guys until and if we get a new stadium. If more than one or two of them sticks with us after 2007 I'll be surprised.

Or just not interested in baseball. I'm beginning to think its just that.

And dude, you ask your cousin if he would rather be picked by the Marlins or the Angels, Dodgers, Cardinals or Yankees. You'll see he'd choose everyone of the others over the Marlins before settling on the Marlins.

Kids will of course be happy to be drafted, but they'll not like the organization if its the Marlins, or Pittsburgh or Kansas City. When the Marlins get the # 1 or # 2 draft for 2007, I bet they don't take a HS player but a college player because they will be easier to sign.

Just wondering what ones are stop gaps? Willis? Olsen? Johnson? Nolasco? HanRam? Cabs? Hermida? Uggla? Jacobs(well, he might be)? Abercrombie(he might be too)? Pinto? Petit?

Thats 12 players right there that could be considered the future for a reasonable amount of time at their respective positions.

So why dont you let me know, which two are actually worth staying in your opinion. Because IMO and most others, in fact I'd say every other except you thinks they are good to go for quite some time.
