Optimism with our rotation

If Nolasco and Willis start to pick it up in the win column, we might have Willis, Nolasco, Johnson, and Olsen all with 11+ potential in the win column for the year...build on that for next year, throw in another phenom to replace Moehler, and this team will be contending again soon...Especial with the fact that is offense is actually decent this year despite the K's and you know holes will eventually get replaced/filled....

Call me crazy but I think we can contend this year its not over until the fat lady sings and we got a rotation and bullpen you also cant say our offense is to bad wit Cabs,Jake picking up the slack and Uggla but its just my opinion :mischief2

Things are looking up really nice, consdiering the bullpen has come a long way wit the setup we got now. Jacobs is heating up and the rest of the lineup is picking up the slack. The emergence of JJ and Nolasco is huge so if we keep playing like this, there is no telling what happens.

If the bullpen hadn't LOST 15 games when the Marlins were winning after the 7th inning in the first month and a half of the season, I'd say Yes to that...A decent bullpen woulda nailed at last 7 of those 15 which would put us at 31-30 right now realistically...Imagine playing just above .500 the beginning of next year with a rotation of WIllis, Nolasco, Olsen, Johnson, ???... an improved pen with what we have now minus Borowski and Herges...

If Nolasco, Olsen, and Johnson started the season in the rotation, 7-8 wins for each by All-Star break would be a realistic number

I try to forget those "lost days". I am glad they happened because it tought this team a lesson and it helped the grow.

With 100 games left we are 10 games out of the wildcard.

Had to say it

Go Fish ! :thumbup

Imagine if the teams up front lose 5 in a row and we win 5 in a row. :drool . I am dreaming :lol .

In the early month the whole team was slumping. The starting pitching and late offense were as much to blame. We've improved greatly in these areas and as a whole team since then

With 100 games left we are 10 games out of the wildcard.

You know what the ironic part is? We haven't seen a lick of offense from Cabs in a while. I am liking what I am seeing. I am also in a great mood after the Heat game so take that for what its worth....

Yeah but losing 15 games early in the year when winning after 7 innings... a decent pen would not have let that happen, thats the point...

Except this team wasn't supposed to be winning 13 out of the last 19.

I think we should keep Borowski in there for the rest of the year unless we can get some good prospects for him. Let Kensing and KMart develop as bullpen guys and then we can test them next year as closers.

And we still have flamethrower Travis Bowyer waiting in the wings to get healthy. :D

I love our rotation even with Moe...it will be that much better with the september callups. Our bullpen is very talented. I also believe Borowski may be traded to a contender that needs to stabilize their bullpen. We will see K-Mart as our closer...Anyone think Harvey Garcia might get a chance at the end of the season to show his stuff?

I play the "what if" game also about all those early year losses, and now with the Braves I still say we should have won 3 out of 4 in Atlanta and then what-WE BE 27-34 AND THE BRAVES 27-38. Hey, the reality is that (I rationalize) that those losses and the way it happened was absolutely necessary for this team. They are so young and hungry that it has made them understand how hard they have to keep working to improve. It has helped Girardi also and now you can see how tough it is to start from scratch and make the "right decisions". The whole puzzle is coming together, how to use players, pitchers, bullpen etc. Who can go deeper into pitch counts and who will fizzle after a certain number of pitches.

This is really turning in to a fun season and now we have a mini season to get interested about. That is we are only two games behind the braves in the loss column and one behing the Nats. Let's go after that.

CONTENDERSSSSSSSSSSS! i f***ing believe!

Lets sweep 'em, and then I think we'll be able to start thinking that they are for real--i don't mean this in a '03 Marlins kinda way, but just that they have improved and can play well and win often kinda way.

If we were able to get a sweep on the Braves, our season would take a whole new perspective we would be tied with the braves in the lost column having played 4 less game...That would be HUGE!...Looking at the pitching matchups for the rest of the series we should actually be favored (Dontrelle and Nolasco vs Thomson and Sosa). I just hope Shadez is up to par we are gonna need him as our table setter to get some runs on the board.
