vs. the best hitting team in the AL....

He goes 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K

But the most impressive thing.... 12 ground outs and only 1 fly out (and it was a pop out to 3rd base).

Our pitching staff looks 4- 5th's complete....these guys are on fire lately.

:thumbup . Thata boy Olsen.

Great Job Olson, lets keep it up!!!

nice job, good to go another strong start like his last one against the Padres.

correction its 5/5ths complete for now....give some props to moe he's doing all that you can ask form him right now....but i agree that for the future 4/5 starters seem to be mainstays....maybe annibel or volstadt will be complete this rotation

just wondering, but has anyone read opposing managers comments on the fish, if so what are they saying?

I don't know what game you guys were at but until Glaus hit that mammoth home run and woke Olsen up he was back to nibbling, nibbling, nibbling. If it wasn't for the defense behind him this game could have been 5-0 before Uggla's dinger.

Luckily, he came to his senses after Glaus, throwing strikes and challenging hittters. I congratulate him for his overall performance but it took on helluva wakeup call to get him cooking.

I thought he pitched great. This is a STACKED Toronto lineup and he held them to 1 run. All ground ball outs..... :thumbup

I thought it was rather clever that after Olsen struck out a batter, the jumbotron showed a clip of Dr. Evil saying "Scotty's on fire".

Very strong outing. Bullpen got a little annoying in the 9th, but Tank got out of it without surrending any runs, it turned out all right in the end.

I agree 100%. He wasnt great tonight. He had solid stuff but was as you said "nibbling". He could have had a much worse line tonight but he bailed himself out of a few jams. Anyway, can't argue with results.

Thats what impressed me tonight. He was able to get out of the jams he got himself into and didnt lose his cool.

Well the defense showed they can play great, nothing wrong with flawless defense. So if the young pitchers make mistakes like that, they have a reliable defense behind him.

That is what the best pitchers do...No one throws no hitters everytime out.. The best pitchers are able to work out of trouble...Outstanding job by Olsen tonite!

vernon wells was struck out 4 times in 4 at bats today, that says something special :)

i was at the game and he just had great stuff since the get go. his slider was disgusting and spotted his fastball very good. this guy has been pitching very good as of late, JJ and now Olsen!

I was at the game..great game..Uggla and Cabrera hit SHOTS,and so did Glaus..some fans reacted stupid and started booing Martinez when he couldn't throw strikes..i hate it when fans do that, and they did the same thing with Kensing, and then Tankersley..idiotic fans..ooh well,Marlins have won 6 in a row,and i'm happy..And btw Uggla signed my glove after the game :D

I think they were booing the ump

No they weren't..because the pitches were NOWHERE near the strike zone..and they would booo and tell the pitcher "throw it right over the plate, come on" i was like..dang look at these fans, bunch of f***ers(the one's complaining that is).

I wasn't booing the ump, I was booing Martinez who stunk up the joint tonight and almost cost the Fish the game with his inability to locate a single one of the pitches in his repetoire. For a guy people think may be heir apparent to the closer role I wouldn't be sending Joe Borowski packing quite yet, based on KMart and Tankersley's performances tonight. And Kensing not being able to seal deal didn't help matters either.

They are kids. They have off nights.

I have one rule when I go to Marlins games.

I dont boo the home team.

The Marlins have enough to overcome in terms of a hostile working environment.

Good for you! BTW K-Mart hadn't pitched in a few days because...I don't freakin know why!

I don't know what they were saying on TV but it looked to me like the plate umpire got into his head. Angel has a habit of trying to be the center of attention. I noticed in the 1st or 2nd inning when Matt went out to talk to him Hernandez didn't even let Matt all the way to the mound before starting out there himself. And then ran the last few yards. Very unprofessional for an ump and IMO not fair unless he did it to the other team, which he didn't. Scotty has a problem of letting things he can't control dictate how he pitches and it looked like that was going to happen last night. So very glad he overcame it.

I should really clarify my comment above.

I wasn't booing Martinez but I was screaming/shouting/letting my opinion be known about his inability to throw strikes about as vociferously as I could. In point of fact I never boo (well I take that back, I booed Darren Oliver once and Alex Gonzalez once...lolol).

In his defense, he had pitched 1.2 innings in 12 days since coming off the DL. That is unacceptable on Girardi's part. Speaking of unacceptable, will we ever see Yusmiero Petit again?
