And by the way we're 8 1/2 games out in the wildcard...

..and have two to five games in hand to boot. 98 games to play.

Call me crazy but all of a sudden this season has some meaning.

We're also a 1/2 game behind the Nationals and one behind the Braves...lolol...it's hard to believe :thumbup

Wow. That is mind boggling. This year is way more fun than last year.

This season does have meaning all of a sudden. We can dream a little right?

Go Fish!

We need to remember though, the fact that we are playing well now doesn't change the goal of this season, which is to get the young guys experience and figure out which ones are worth building around. Even if we are truly in it at some point, the FO isn't going to make the type of moves that contenders would make because it would go against our rebuilding plan. I expect this team to subtract veterans instead of add them.

Girardi's here to win a World Series... i'm behind him.

How ironic would it be for the Baseball gods to resurrect this team again after breathing new life into them just a few short years ago? Alot of things would have to happen and this team still needs a lot of time to mature, but with the history of the team as it is, ANYTHING is possible. :thumbup

I'm optmistic about this team, but I don't think they have a strong enough roster to be that amazing. However, if the Marlins do somehow end up in the wild card card race later in the year, it'll be one of the best things to happen to the sport in years.

I have no idea how this all plays out but to be sitting there in the stands and finding myself scoreboard watching all through the night brought a whole new meaning to the season (and hence this thread).

As I found myself following the Mets, Phillies, Nats and Braves as the game rolled on beneath me I couldn''t help by remember what 2003 felt like. One thing is for sure, it didn't feel like this in 2004 or 2005.

oh i agree...yea the fish had a better record last year at this point...but that team was so disappointing in itis inconsistency...this team is far more exciting to watch even if they have lost more games

Wild Card or not this year has been awsome so far and how can you not fall in love with this team?

sooo

who bet the over for wins this year in vegas?

I wish I had

I have 10 to win 1500 for the NLCS and 20 to win 2500 for the WS.

I love this team. Even more, I love the fact that it has some amazing potential for this very season and that nobody else but us knows it.

We are the best kept secret in sports...The S Fl community should start hearing about the Baby Marlins and start coming to the park if they are staying home to watch the Heat...they have one more week of rhat excuse. Get on the bandwagon!

the problem is people heard "this team is going to be the worst team ever" from everyone for months... people think its just luck or a flop if they're playing good right now.

the only way attendance will go up (other than if the sox or the yanks come here) is if we get into the playoffs, or get some superstar player.

I dont want to keep my hopes up but this team is amazing. Last year was so stressful and heartbreaking. Keep up the good work boys.

Miracle Marlins of 2006 :mischief .

June 17th, 2005: Oakland As, 27-39 11 games out if first

Aug 28, 2005: Oakland As, 73-56, lead NL west

It is definitely plausible. I think the similarities between our two teams is uncanny. We are a better team in terms of RS/RA than Oakland was at this point last year too.

Marlins in 2003 after 64 games: 29-35. Only two games back of that pace.

Its great how well we're playing but it's a long season and I'm not getting my hopes up. It would blow my mind if we finished anywhere but last and at .500. Wildcard and playoff dreams can wait for next couple of years.

Wild Card and playoff dreams this year. :mischief

i'd love to see us "shock the world" again this year. not neccasarily by winning the world series or even making the playoffs, but get a .500 record and/or finish in front of 1 or 2 teams in the NL east. i would love to see the braves in 5th place...the thought just brings a smile to my face..

Indeed I too wanna witness the downfall of the evil empire. :mad
