June 19, 200620 yr I don't know if 3 Marlins will make the team considering we've been overlooked for the first two months of this season. 1) Josh Johnson 2) Dan Uggla 3) Miguel Cabrera All three are having above average seasons and up there in stats in their respective positions.
June 19, 200620 yr I agree, all three deserve it. Does anything think JJ has a chance to start? I know he probably has a 1% chance but still he is doing so much better than some other starters.

June 20, 200620 yr Miggy makes it almost automatically since he's the only non-pitcher "big name" down here, and remember every team needs at least one representative...so he's basically in... Uggla and JJ both have solid shots but we need to cross our fingers that they make it as reserves...
June 20, 200620 yr This is for certain Cabs will be at the all-star game...the question is whether anyone will be there with him alot will depend on how hot this team remains...I have said before if JJ pitches as well as he has he will be a given...He leads the Majors in ERA for pete's sake. Most managers wanna win this game he gives any manager a great chance when he is on the mound...Problem not all teams have seen JJ pitch. Uggla has a great resume to play on any all-star game but i believe Vidro and Utley will be selected and because of sheer roster limitations in number of players he will not be selected even if he had 20 homers and 65 rbi (very possible)
June 20, 200620 yr Cabs will be in the All Star barring anything unforseen. Unfortunately I think Cabs will be the only Marlins player in the All Star although Uggla and JJ definately deserve to be in the game.
June 20, 200620 yr Uggla wont even make the All-Star team, even though he's beyond worthy. The two second basemen will be Chase Utley (fan vote) and Craig Biggio (Garner will select his 15+ year veteran)
June 20, 200620 yr I'm not sold on Cabrera being a lock. Wright and Rolen both will end up being there, even though Cabrera's a better player than both of them since he trumps both of them in BA, OBP and OPS. However, the one dark-horse is Morgan Ensberg. Garner gets to pick 2 or 4, can't remember, and I'd be shocked if he didn't bring both Biggio and Ensberg. Cabrera could end up being one of the players on that vote for the last roster spot, but I can't see 4 third-basemen brought to the game by the manager.

You have to remember, every team needs an all-star and often the most deserving players aren't necessarily there. I mean, how often does the starting lineup reflect the most deserving players? Cabs deserves more than just about any other player in the NL aside from Pujols to be there, but he won't win the fan vote, will probably be stuck behind Wright or Rolen (neither of whom deserve to be the starter) and Ensberg (who leads all 3B in homeruns, and is an Astro). Honestly, the one lock from the Marlins should be Uggla since he leads all NL 2B in all 3 triple crown categories, OPS and slugging.

June 20, 200620 yr this is why every year I get more and more upset at this silly popularity contest...I say keep the "one player per team" rule...but the entire roster should be selected by stats, if youre the best, you deserve to be in...they want fan votes? Let them choose the starting lineup...or maybe they can choose to just sit back and watch a game featuring the "best" MLB players...not "the casual fan's favorite players"... ...thank you, come again

Players sometimes play out of their normal position in All Star games. Ensberg replaced Lee last year at 1B with Pujols DHing. If Cabrera did make the team, I wouldn't be surprised to see him used in the OF instead of at 3B depending on the situation, but he probably won't be chosen as an OF. Why not play him at SS He did spend some time there in the NLCS.
