Scouting Report:

Due to Saturday's rainout in New York, a day-night doubleheader is slated for Sunday, creating the need for an emergency starter. Sanchez, who has made 15 starts for Double-A Carolina in the Southern League, is expected to make the start. The right-hander was acquired from the Red Sox as part of the Josh Beckett, Mike Lowell trade last November. Sanchez will be making his Major League debut.

Chacon looks to bounce back after a tough start on Tuesday in Washington. The Yankees spotted Chacon a 9-2 lead in the top of the fifth, but he gave back four of those runs in the bottom of the inning, prompting Joe Torre to lift him after just 4 1/3 innings. Chacon hasn't shown much consistency since returning from the disabled list.

All I gotta say is after sitting in the rain for 7 hours, I hope this one either ends up in a Marlins victory or gets postponed until September so I can actually see a game at Yankee Stadium this season!

Like Tommy Hutton said last night Chacon has allowed alot of runs this year raising that ERA. so hes tending to get the ball up more then he should as u could see in the 1st inning of last night. We just gotta take that same approach were basically seeing him 2 times in 2 days, so that should lean toward us. If Annibal throws strikes, with the Yankees really having nothing to go on except maybe Minor League footage, our advantage tips our way.

Bats have to come alive, and stay out of the double plays to end a threat. All that aside.

GO MARLINS!!!!! WIN IT TONIGHT FOR UR FANS!!!!

if Chacon does not start it will be former Marlin Ron Villone...we shall see, probably a game time decision.

Oh and Chacon being "off" this season. I never go by that because usually those pitchers are "on" when they play the Marlins.

Also guys the Yanks used their setup man and their closer today. So they are out of the picture for tonight.

After seeing him yesterday, he really is not the same as he was before he was hit in the Red Sox game a few weeks ago. I don't know where it hit him, but from what I heard he hasn't been the same since and if the game was played yesterday I think we could have rocked him.

On a side note, lots of turbulence coming into Fort Lauderdale today...I'm feeling kind of like when I come off of a boat...wonderful!

Win or nothing. I dont want this to be a sweep. Ani, you better pitch good.

Let's just hope he doesnt puke on the mound, anything after that is gravy

Very true

This is not quite a "soft landing".

I smell a high offensive game for game 2. Hopefully Sanchez steps up because our offense has been horrible so it would be hard to keep up. Also, as for those who say that this is a bad situation for Sanchez, I disagree 100%. If he does get blown away, he gets the excuse that he played the Yankees for his first start. If he sparkles, his confidence will soar.

Maybe not, but being a former Boston farm hand, you have to think this situation was being put in his mind anyway.

I am looking forward to seeing what the Marlins lineup will be like. I really hope Jake is DH'ing because he needs to make up for what happened today.

Hopefully Torre takes it easy on us and gives some of his players the 2nd game off. One player we know who wont be playing is Posada but Giambi will be playing.

Whether Chacon was "on" or "off" this season the more u see a pitcher especially in a short amount of time, the better swings u have. the Marlins have shown they can adjust quickly. imo they can get get a good amount of runs this game off him.

What happened today? I missed the game, went to a movie.

Yankees won 2-1 in game 1. Dontrelle had the complete game, going 8 innings, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. It was Mussina for 7, then Farnsworth for 1 and Rivera for 1 for the Yankees.

Go Marlins!
