June 29, 200620 yr Joe said that he will annouce after the game if Anibal or Moe is going to pitch Saturday. Tommy said Anibal would not have thrown a practice session in the pen if he wasnt going to start. He also said why would the starter be TBA if Moe is supposed to pitch. My gut feeling says Anibal is going to pitch. WDYT?
June 29, 200620 yr To paraphrase Whitney H. "I believe the children are our future Let them pitch and let them kick some a$$..."
June 29, 200620 yr In a season where Girardi and Beinfest consistently say, even when we're winning, that its all about evaluation... it would be ridiculous to stick with Moehler over a kid that they say is definitely in our future plans.... Moehler has done an admirable job, but it wouldnt make sense to not go with Anibal here...
June 29, 200620 yr Trade Moehler for anything and keep Anibal in the rotation. Im not the president of the Brian Moehler fan club or anything but he's been pitching well lately. He loses his spot because a rookie had one good outing? Im just playing devil's advocate here.

Let Anibal pitch another game and if he has a great outing leave him in the rotation trade Moe or leave him for long relif and trade someone else like Resop
June 29, 200620 yr i'm a fan of Moehler replacing Herges in the bullpen as opposed to getting rid of him, I would much rather see that IMO

June 29, 200620 yr Yeah its a sticky situation. Id rather have Sanchez take Mo's spot but it is kinda messed up that Sanchez gets his spot after one outing. Looking at it from Mo's perspective.

Can't blame him for that Keystone Kops outing the rest of the team had Friday night. I say he gets the start and keep Anibal ready just in case. I'm not a big Herges fan so I think Anibal could actually replace him in the pen for some long relief and if the Fish go back to their starters going long distance every game then send Anibal down to AAA to keep him sharp.

I'd say the decision is based upon more than just "one outing." His is our top pitching prospect in the minors, an All-Star at AA, he was a main part of the Beckett deal and his "one outing" happened to be 5+ innings of shutout ball in Yankee Stadium! I'd say Sanchez deserves the opportunity. :thumbup
June 29, 200620 yr I would not be so fast to throw Ani in against the likes of Manny, Papi, & JV. While I'm going to the game, and would like to see Ani, I believe it best to start Moe with Ani in the wings. If Moe is good, save Ani for one of the "ten-in-a-row" we have coming up (like WA next week).
June 29, 200620 yr Well Girardi said this morning on 790 The Ticket (on his weekly show) that Moe would be starting saturday and that Ani would be in long relief this weekend and is scheduled to make another start next week they just don't know when yet...he says the fish are scheduled for another double header in NY next week and that is why Ani is still around for now....they really like his skills and had thoughts of calling him up earlier this year but it didn't work out cause he had just pitched or something.....anyhow...Moe goes on Sat with Ani in the pen and Ani gets a start next week
June 29, 200620 yr Moehler's starts this month: DATE OPP RESULT IP H BB R ER ERA Jun. 5 @SF L 14-2 4 10 2 8 8 Jun. 11 @SD W 7-3 7 8 4 2 2 Jun. 17 TOR W 8-2 7 6 1 2 2 Jun. 23 @NYY L 6-5 4 8 4 6 5 Monthly Totals 22 32 11 18 17 6.95 The month of June has actually made his terrible ERA even worse. I'd argue that Moe hasn't looked good at all lately. From watching his starts, I'd say that even in games in which he manages to record a good outcome (e.g., June 11th @ SD), he still doesn't seem to pitch particularly well.
June 29, 200620 yr Author Argh Moe is pitching Saturday :sigh:. Hopefully Anibal is on standby just incase.
June 29, 200620 yr Dirty Sanchez will likely get the start during the doubleheader against the Mets. If he does to the Mets what he did to the Yanks, I think there's no way you keep him out of the rotation.

Agreed if he pitches well against these 2 offensive teams they need to find a way to keep him in the rotation!!

Use him in the Bos series and you will see him leave the mound in top 4th with runners in scoring position, no out, and Bos leading 6-4.
