Do we make a trade

Heard rumors about Crawford from TB once again....they like Willingham as a backup catcher and their DH.....it is possible to deal him away with Pinto and Petit...TB needs starting pitching....

I will skeet my pants sooooooooooooooooooooo hard if we can somehow get Carl Crawford. The guy defines awesomeitude in my book.

I'd really like to see where you heard that rumor. It's interesting to say the least.

It might help, although leave us with another hole in LF, and thats assuming Crawford goes to CF. Even if Crawford goes to LF, still a hole in CF.

A 3 way trade might not be a bad idea, if that happens though. Even though I doubt Crawford ever wears teal.

Might as well overpay for a half season of Carlos Lee as well(kidding), although might be able to get someone like Frank Catalanotto to fill the hole for in LF for the rest of the season if the Crawford trade magicially happens...free agent to be after this year, Toronto might not ask for much.

:notworthy I want him bad to dammit as long as we dont give up Willis to get him go for it

I want Abercrombie out of the Marlins organization.

I couldn't agree with you more. He really looks lost out there more times then not. I feel bad for the guy b/c he is giving it his best but he just isn't ready. He has flashes of goodness like the upper deck shot in RFK and the great defense he displayed but that comes and goes every 20 days or so. I am assuming onceo Ross gets more healthy we will see less of Reggie although I won't be happy until he is sent down.

I was at the game on Sunday and was speaking with Hammer's dad about that....he was the one who told me about TB wanting Hammer...

It isn't about Abercrombie, it isn't even about Willingham, Petit or Pinto, it's about getting someone who can hit behind Cabrera as protection to force pitchers to pitch to him.

I don't think thats one of our biggest problems. Cabs hasn't had much of a problem yet this year. If anything Joe needs to rearrange his lineup. Having Borchard and Ross behind Miggy doesn't do sh*t. I would love to see a shakeup at the top of

Players like that are really hard to find but I would love to see Dunn in a Marlins uniform yeah i know he strikes out and has a low average its just my opinion but what the Marlins need is power

Yeah I agree with you on that lineup to I made a thread about it but many people said we shouldnt change it because thats the lineup we won 9 games in a a row with :thumbdown

Ugh, when will this board get over its fixation with Dunn?

Well, if we traded for Crawford(unlikely), and Willingham was involved, we'd need a LF. Dunn would be great, but Cincinatti wouldnt trade him. Maybe Denorfia, then Crawford could stay in LF and Denorfia to CF. Or maybe even, as I said, a LF like Catalonotto from Toronto, who Toronto probably wouldnt ask all that much for.

That looks like a nice lineup, i've always thought of putting hermida in the 3 spot, but after those five guys the rest of the lineup is a black hole. Ross is decent, but not that good, and unless we could get more ABs for Olivo who is doing really well at the plate, the line up is still shaky after the 5 spot. Hammer is not doing well at all, and borchard hits for low average. I guess we are just going to have to wait for next year and groom our own hitters boys, don't think we can get anyone via trade.

Yeah I agree with you on that lineup to I made a thread about it but many people said we shouldnt change it because thats the lineup we won 9 games in a a row with :thumbdown LOL I remember that. In fact I was probably one of the people who said what was working is good. It's amazing how a small losing streak will make you feel. I am starting to wonder if the use of the bench or lack of is hurting us. Is Joe really using Treanor and Olivo wisely? Olivo has a hot bat and continually gets days off. I dont believe in a pitcher having a personal catcher so that theory goes out the window to me. We lose some pop when Olivo is out of the lineup. I also think Helms should be getting more playing time aswell. He has a good eye at the plate and can play solid defense. I am really pissed off at the playing time Reggie gets over guys like Helms and Mezzy.

What's stupid? Trading for Crawford is unlikely, this is true...trading for Dunn is just as unlikely, this is true...we will still have a hole in either LF or CF, if Willingham is involved in the unlikely trade for Carl Crawford, which is also true.

I don't think you can give up that kind of talent for a player who doesn't provide middle of the order protection.

If the organization truly believes Hermida is capable of playing centerfield, even if only for the next 2 or 3 years, then a move should be made for a corner outfield bat who can hit behind Miggy. Other than that, no move is needed, IMO. These last 4 days have really served to remind me that this team truly is a year away.

We all know its unlikely but I was just saying it would be some great trades to make I mean we have alot of pitching and could use a better lineup

Wasnt referring to you. Was referring to el penguino.

Why in hell would the Marlins even consider trading for Adam Dunn? Just because Willingham could be gone? Never minding the fact that they still have affordable options in Borchard and Ross? This team just went through a firesale, why would they want to take on the large contract of a player that can hit a solo shot a mile and then strike out every other AB? Why not trade for a better, more affordable LF?

What do the Marlins have to offer the Reds? Why would the Reds be willing to make this trade if they are currently the Wild Card leaders?

Come on, man.

If I never have to hear the names of Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey Junior ever again I will die happy.

Wow, never did I say trade for Adam Dunn. Well, not for a while anyway. I just said a hole in LF would be created, that we would have no shot at Dunn but would have a chance at Reds prospect Denorfia to play LF, or Frank Catalonotto, whom is a free agent to be, extremely decent, and whom Toronto might not ask much for in return. There are your cheap LF replacements. I like Ross, but there is never a scenario where he and Borchard should start. Even though Ross should have more of an opportunity than Borchard, whom should never ever start for any team.

Trading Willingham et al for Crawford just to play him in LF permanently doesn't make much sense. Yeah, it's probably an upgrade long term and does give the team a legitimate leadoff hitter, but the cost is exorbiant and there's still an organizational black hole in CF that would need to be addressed.

If you trade for Crawford, you play him in CF and then add a corner outfielder from elsewhere either at the deadline or in the offseason. Corner outfielders who can OPS .800 and provide some protetction are much easier to find in trades or free agency than franchise CF's, which Crawford would be provided his defense in center is even remotely adequate.

Impying that it would be in the best interests of the Marlins to trade for an overpaid, overrated player that will contribute nothing to a rebuilding team that is trying to maintain a modest budget. :thumbup

I said that as a reply to you asking what everyones fascination with Adam Dunn was. Not that I personally wanted to trade for Adam Dunn.
