Sorry But....GIRARDI SUCKS

If Girardi's wife had given birth today.....we win the game.

You do mean because Giradi's baby is the return of the Messiah and would have healed Cabrera's bruised tricep, right ?

I'm sure thats what he was going for

No, I don't think Girardi's kid is the messiah.... With that kid's genes, I'd be surprised if he can even find his way through the birth canal.

And I kind of like Giradi.

This thread title should be: "Sorry but.... OUR BULLPEN SUCKS!"

No, the name of this thread should be.. Can't anyone read a f***ing scouting report?

Pujols and Rolen are significantly less dangerous against lefties than righties. Hell, the Cardinals as a whole are less dangerous against lefties than righties.

Girardi:

"We have to have a right-hander do the job for us in the eighth inning," Girardi said. "It was a choice I made. It didn't work out tonight."

You don't neeed a f***in righty, you need someone who can get outs lefty or right, like tank. And if you insist on a 8th inning righty use Borowski and have a lefty closer

I'll try not to get into this debate but will write this... Putting in Mitre in that situation was not a bad idea. We cannot rely on just Tank and JoBo the whole season. Mitre had been strong in his previous relief appearances in the 8th after coming off the DL. That said, I am sure Girardi will not put Mitre in in the 8th again after tonight unless his back is against the wall. One more thing, many of the posts about Girardi in this thread, including some idiot who insulted his soon to be born child, were mind numbing in their stupidity. That is all.

Well said... your right.. Mitre did have a solid performance last time, Joe thought he can count on him.. He'll change up his managing...

It's not like Tank was overworked. Stupid move on Girardi's part.

i agree.. Mitre had 6 pitched 6 straight scorless innings.. why wouldnt you have faith in the guy? sure he had a rough outing after he came off the DL, but since then he had been solid..

I agree in this one, YES St. Louis does seem to struggle against lefties, he had no business putting in MOPUP material Mitre. Tankersley would have gotten the job done.

I honestly don't think that is a big enough sampling size to go by. And as I said earlier, he threw a lot of pitches those innings implying that he might have got the job done but not solidly.

so what, borowski throws a lot of pitches and gets guys on base but gets the job done.. as long as he does that im happy.. today he didnt..

he struggled against the cards in early may.. that has nothing to do with now.. at least his last 6 apperances are recent.

also i didnt see anyone complain when mitre pitched in the 8th inning the past few games and got the job done.

I just hope Mitre has better luck next year at his new job...either baggig groceries or selling used cars.

I also hope he can sit his grandkids on his lap and totally skip telling them about his baseball years. It's not cool when grandkids think of their papa as a miserable failure.

But good outing or bad outing, this is my last comment ever about Sergio "So mr batter where would the ball work best for you" Mitre: he is a sh*t stain on the underpants of baseball.

I'm not as keen on Borowski as others are either.

And I still don't think 6 IP is enough to hand him the ball in such a tight spot.

I didn't watch the MIL series so I couldn't have commented either way on his performance there. I only looked up his pitch counts.

And I didn't criticize this move in hindsight. If you check the game thread you will notice that I wanted Tank in that spot all the way.

i would have rather seen tank, but i wasnt mad that mitre was in there.

I mean we need someone to step up and he had been doing a good job. We cant go in the last month relying on two guys in the pen. Say we make the playoffs, we are going to need mitre or someone besides tankersley to step up, and so far mitre had been the best option since he came back off the DL and since Kensing went down.

I understand we have to win these games, but we also have to see what these pitchers are made of and whether or not they can handle the pressure, because there will be other situations in the coming weeks when mitre will be called upon again with the game on the line.

Girardi's postgame quote further shows that some of that news leaked in the papers about him was most likely true.... He's stubborn and thinks he is always right. He won't learn from his mistakes (and we've seen him make the same mistakes over and over) because he doesn't make mistakes, he's always right. As for saying Girardi wasn't responsible for our 11-31 start, he played a huge role in that. The starting rotation he felt was best for the team coming out of spring training put us in position to fail. Most people here knew that rotation wasn't right for this team, but somehow Joe Girardi didn't. Cubs are losers and Joe Girardi is a Cub.....

I have three reasons...Chris Duncan, ALBERT PUJOLS, and Scott Rolen. I don't want Sergio Mitre on the mound in any situation against those type of hitters, let alone the 8th inning of a one run game. I agree that you can't simply rely on Tank and Borowski, but in this situation that's exactly what you do. Anyone who can't understand that is a moron. My problem wasn't just who was pitching, although that is a big part of it, but also because Dontrelle was taken out in the first place. If you have Wes Helms on the bench or Cabrera not starting, but available, then yes, pinch hit for D-Train...but Cody Ross? With Mitre warming up, that part of the Cards lineup coming to bat...GO WITH YOUR BEST!! Ok, done ranting....I'm not officially on the Fire Girardi bandwagon, but you won't find me complaining if that happens. A tape of the eighth inning of last night's game should be sent to the BBTN idiots who would rail against the move.

Girardi is dumb as sh*t. Anyone can see that our lefties have dominated the Cards this series. Hey guess what, our best reliever is a f***ing lefty. f***ing use him in a one run game.

No, it is you who is "dumb as sh*t." You evidentlyknow little about the game, you just like to whine about the manager when the players don't perform. Do you know how Tank looked warming up? Do you know what he told the bullpen coach, which was relayed to the pitching coach, about how he felt? Do you know if he said his arm was tired or he wasn't feeling well for some other reason(he did give up 2 runs by letting inherited runners score; not a good sign as to his ability to go last night)? Do you know if Beinfest said to Girardi "I am thinking about making some moves, do you think Mitre will keep it up like he has in pitching 6 SCORELESS INNINGS IN A ROW, and can you get him in the game tonight to help me decide what to do? Do you know anything about what really goes on in managing a baseball team? It sure doesn't look like it.

Criticizing a manager for using a reliever who had been doing extremely well is stupid. It's even more stupid when the guy you would have preferred DID come in and let the game get totally out of reach by not stranding the inherited runners. Your "best reliever" turned it from a one run game to a 3 run game with only 3 outs left for us to score. Go back to coaching Little League.

seriously reaching....

This is my problem with the move...wasn't Tank our de facto 8th inning/setup guy for the last month, and hasn't he performed well? Why switch that up now? And, with Mitre of all people, who is probably best suited in long relief. If Tank was unavailable or overworked, that is one thing. But, to do it just to change it up...on the LAST day of August when we are sooo close to grabbing the wild card. I don't get it. It just doesn't make a lot of sense. Girardi can't be blamed for a lot of stuff, but this has to be in the top five of his bonehead moves this entire season...and he has had some gems. We had the LEAD going into the bottom of the 8th...and Girardi decided to replace D-Train WITH Mitre. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Girardi was just using this an opportunity to make Mitre feel like a valuable part of the team, and not necessarily puting our team in the best position to win. Tank needed to be in there.

The answer is there was no switch up. Tank was not the de facto setup man. Mitre had been used as the setup man in each of his three previous relief appearances (Aug. 21 vs Washington + Aug. 25 & 27 vs Milwaukee) prior to last night,. In those three appearances he had given up a total of one walk, no hits and no runs.
