September 3, 200619 yr Monday, September 4 Dolphin Stadium | 1:05 PM ET Enrique Gonzalez, RHP (3-6, 5.42) Diamondbacks (64-72) @ Brian Moehler, RHP (7-8, 6.04) Marlins (67-68) Scouting Report: Gonzalez put in five innings of work in his last start on Tuesday against the Padres. The rookie right-hander gave up four earned runs -- including a two-run shot by Mike Piazza -- on 10 hits. It was the fourth time in August that Gonzalez had pitched longer than five innings. Moehler is filling in for Ricky Nolasco, who was scratched due to a slight injury to his right hamstring. Moehler has made 16 starts this year, the last coming July 30 in the night game of a doubleheader against St. Louis. He has pitched well out of the bullpen lately, giving up only one earned run in his last 11 1/3 innings. Tuesday, September 5 Dolphin Stadium | 7:05 PM ET Claudio Vargas, RHP (10-9, 5.15) Diamondbacks (64-72) @ Dontrelle Willis, LHP (9-10, 3.91) Marlins (67-68) Scouting Report: Vargas' last outing against the Padres on Wednesday was brief as he only lasted five innings. The right-hander fell behind in the count early and often while giving up three runs on six hits. Vargas was able to work out of jams as he stranded six runners on the night. He hasn't helped with much run support as the D-Backs plated a lone run while he was on the hill. Splendid in his last start, Willis settled for a no-decision at St. Louis, giving up one run in seven innings. But the Marlins were unable to preserve a 2-1 lead after the D-Train exited. Willis has won his last two decisions, and in his last three starts, he has given up five runs in 21 innings. Willis is looking to even his record for the first time since he was 1-1 on April 25. Wednesday, September 6 Dolphin Stadium | 7:05 PM ET Edgar Gonzalez, RHP (1-2, 6.27) Diamondbacks (64-72) @ Anibal Sanchez, RHP (6-2, 3.22) Marlins (67-68) Scouting Report: Gonzalez will be recalled from Triple-A Tucson to make Wednesday's start, his first since July 16. Arizona needed a spot starter because of Friday's rainout and Saturday's day-night doubleheader. With the Sidewinders, Gonzalez was 3-8 with a 3.83 ERA in 23 starts, and had 106 strikeouts in 136 1/3 innings. The rookie, obtained in the offseason trade that sent Josh Beckett to Boston, had his best start in his last outing. He pitched seven innings, giving up one run with a career-high seven strikeouts in a 3-2 victory over the Brewers. He also had better control in his last start, walking only two batters. He's looked strong in his last five outings, going 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA during that span.

September 3, 200619 yr Malman you can always just check the Marlins website and it will show the upcoming matchups for usually up to 3 - 5 days next time. I am happy that we don't have to face Livan or Webb in this series, a good start by Moehler tomorrow will really help us get a WIN.

September 4, 200619 yr Houston will be playing for their playoff life when they play three against the Phillies as we court Arizona. Always hating to count my chickens before they hatch, the six games (ours and theirs) can mean a huge swing in playoff contention and potentially provide some cushion going into the ten (OMG) games we have left with Philly.

September 4, 200619 yr I like the idea of starting Brian M.....assuming he does well, of course. Even though Nolasco has a little nagging injury, the guy seems a bit tired and definitely needs to skip a start in the rotation.
