Anyone still want to trade Olsen for Gathright

Recommended Posts

Just pointing out the only case I rememberd of someone actually wanting to do this trade.

As for Uggla, when did he say that? I know alot of people werent happy about him being the starting 2B before the season, maybe the majority of this board. That can't be held against him if it was in that timeframe.

I don't remember anyone wanting to trade Olsen to begin with.

MarlinLou almost DEMANDED we trade Olsen for Gathright, and if not him than JJ or Nolasco. Probably some others as well.

I'd still do it for Nolasco.

I'm far from Nolasco's biggest fan, but goddamit that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

don't forget that marlinslou also *guaranteed* that the marlins wouldn't trade the object of his man-crush, luis castillo.

he probably ought to open a anti-psychic hotline. what ever advice he gives you -- you do the reverse...

Naw, that was lefty.

Gathright is hitting .218 Olsen has 12 wins...anyone still think We should have made that trade? I believe a more even trade would be Abercrombie for Gathright!

Considering I wanted to trade Vargas for him...

Hate to say it, but those of us who weren't sold on Vargas were right. Too bad we didn't trade him when his value was high. I was more impressed with Olsen last year than Vargas even though Vargas pitched better.

The argument for trading for Gathright made sense.. the argument for trading Olsen for Gathright made absolutely none.

agreed, the olsen thing all popped up in reports.. i don't think anyone here really thought it would be a good idea that i remember.. most people were saying trading pinto, vargas, or petit if I remember correctly.

Marlinslou has more knowledge about baseball than 90% of this board. Hindsight is 20/20, but the argument for Gathright made sense at the time.

Plus he was never adamant about us making the move, just argued why it wasn't such a bad deal for us.

I bantered back and forth with Marlinslou on this matter. He is impressive in his baseball knowledge and the baseball stats he researched were mind boggling. In this case Marlinslou was just wrong...Ohhh was he wrong! That happens sometimes when limited data is overanalyzed
