Anibal Sanchez optioned to AAA

Featured Replies

Is there another source besides Sid? He has pulled our leg before....

Sid, the Evil Mets fan? :mischief

In all seriousness, Anibal might need some time in Jupiter to work out kinks if he is feeling uncomfortable pitching.

However, has 560 reported anything about this? Amazing that the flagship station of the Marlins gets beat to a rumor by an upstart rival.

I don't think this is right. I know Anibal's been struggling, but he earned more than this with his performance last season.

This is some bulls***.

some news

I guess the rotation should shape up somewhere along these lines:

Willis, Olsen, Nolasco, Obermueller, Mitre

I hope that Mitre doesnt blow it this saturday because it could be ugly then. I dont understand the poing with sending Sanchez to AAA unless there is a major flaw in his mechanics. I know he has been pretty wild as of late but it can't be that bad. He was still 2-1 and that one loss as wild as he was, he kept the team in the game till he was forced out of it due to his high pitchcount.

I'm surprised by the move to send Sanchez down but I understand it and wouldn't argue against it. He really has pitched MUCH worse than his 2-1 and 4.80 ERA would indicate. He has been flat out horrible getting in and out of trouble in what it seems like just about every inning building-up up ridiculous pitch counts which ends up taxing the bullpen. He needs to find his lost velocity and lost command.

Anibal needs to find out what he is doing wrong. Being sent to AAA is probably the best option for Anibal right now. Better opportunity to change some things.

I really wanted Wes in the bullpen because he can give us a good 2/3 innings in a close but a non save situtation. Now we have Julio to blow the games again :( .

This is from Rotoworld...

Marlins optioned RHP Anibal Sanchez to Triple-A Albuquerque.

That seems a little extreme, especially since Sanchez had a lower ERA (4.80) than either Dontrelle Willis (5.35) or Scott Olsen (5.63). Still, even though Sanchez hadn't given up more than four runs in any starts, he was nowhere near recapturing 2006 form. Ideally, he'd be right back up after three starts in the minors. We're guessing that Wes Obermueller will replace him in the rotation. May. 4 - 3:59 pm et

Is Julio being activated?

:crying Hopefully he will slip on the way to the field.

 Holly is really enjoying her Boolio Haterade.....where can I get some?

now i have that painful feeling back in the pit of my stomach knowing that julio is back and it takes one point of the finger for him to be on the mound at DS once more. i feel sick.

I'm surprised it took them this long to decide to demote him to the minors. He is doing hirroble. Who cares how he pitched last year?!?! How is that going to help us in any way?

It will be interesting to see what happens if somehow Mitre's blister comes back (ex: Beckett). Will they bring Anibal back or bring up someone new?

Our guy is back!

yes!

and Anibal being sent down is a shonda

I don't agree on all of your thoughts about Sanchez but I do agree with this one.

I am suprised by this as a whole our starting pitching has not done well , Sanchez you would have thought based on last year would have been given a bit more leeway . Regrettably this appears as if the move was to accomodate Julio . I wish the front office would admit it hasnt worked out and move on.....we all make mistakes . I have to say I am not impressed with our rotation at all hopefullly Sanchez takes this as an opportunity to work out his issues and hopefully JJ comes back soon because we are not going to get alot of innings out of the rotation we currently have by mid june our pen will be running on fumes

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Just when I thought Beinfest couldn't get any dumber...he pulls something like this

AND COMPLETELY REDEEMS HIMSELF!!!

No, seriously, sending down Sanchez for Julio is just retarded. I get that the move is done because he has options, but Mitre and Obermueller are going to get knocked around big time. Our whole rotation sucks, so why send down the one guy who's been semi-effective for the worst pitcher on the roster? Oh, that's right, because we insist on shoving one crap ass pitcher down the team's throat and instead pull this sh*t that may stunt development to keep Obermueller around while we allow Julio to lose 4-5 more games for us before the inevitable DFA.

If this isn't the poorest run season in franchise history, I'd like to see what others think is.

Big time ball-drop here, and we know why it was done.

If this isn't the poorest run season in franchise history, I'd like to see what others think is.

Yep.

And I'd still like to know how sending Sanchez down is going to boost his confidence.

The thing that gets me isn't that he's yanking Sanchez...even if he has a lower ERA than Willis and Olsen and has never allowed more than 4 earned runs in a start...but that he's been outright demoted after having a hell of a season last year and only 6 starts this year.

Rational teams that have 6 starters (and I use the term starter lightly) would have demoted the struggling player temporarily to the bullpen while the acting long-man takes his role.

But not the Marlins...we INSIST on this f***ing Julio experiment. Just utterly retarded.

we don't know all the details.

Not jumping down your throat, but the details are there.

You don't demote a player because of an injury. That's a waste of an option year.

Julio and Mitre were both on their way back. Mitre is out of options. Obermueller is out of options. Neither would likely clear waivers.

The only pitchers on our roster that have options are Willis, Olsen, Sanchez, Owens, Tankersley, Lindstrom and Gardner...and I think Gregg, but I'm not positive.

Pinto wouldn't clear and has value. Mitre wouldn't clear and I guess has value, and Beinfest needs the token Brian Moehler veteran in Obermueller and has a raging hard on for Julio.

Thus, Sanchez is the easiest demotion because of his recent struggles.

I'm not even going to go on a personal rant, but there's plenty on this that irks me.
