Posted June 11, 200717 yr So the Marlins are running a special incentive to help Miggy close the 100,000 vote gap between him and Wright (Miggy's #2 in voting and with every update the gap has grown smaller). What the Marlins are doing is, at the stadium, the fan who comes to the fan headquarters table with the most completed ballots for Miggy and the Marlins either is entered to win, or wins a Miguel Cabrera autographed bat. So, during the Cleveland series, start stuffing those ballots.
June 11, 200717 yr yea when i saw that a Saturday's game i thought it was awesome. i am trying to get tickets to one of the games, im hoping Wednesday since it's a NO TV? i think..
June 11, 200717 yr The Mutt fans are probably sitting there thinking the Miggy bat promotion is bush league while they simultaneously steal ballots from little kids to punch Wrights name in and constantly refreshing the voting page on MLB.com on their laptops at Shea. They are a peculiar bunch up in Queens.
June 11, 200717 yr It is bush league....You shouldn't have to run a promotion like this to get people to vote for their own players....Not like it's gonna matter...the 20k the marlins get will pale in comparison to the crowds they get at shea stuffing the ballots for Wright, Reyes and the bunch.
June 11, 200717 yr Miggy is the best latin player I have ever watch in a marlins uniform imo. I will be very sad if he is one day traded because without any doubt in my mind he will be a hall of famer.
June 11, 200717 yr I'm seriously considering picking up a whole crap load of ballots of Tuesday and returning Thursday with them filled out in an attempt to win the jersey or bat.

June 11, 200717 yr im more sad i cant vote for hee seop choi as an all star this year. Voted for him every year since 04. last year as a write in if i remember correctly since he was in the minors.. and i guess i can do that again, but not the same since he is in korea i believe
June 11, 200717 yr Whens the deadline for the Cabrera voting contest and how the heck do you get all the ballots? lol...

For the record, I have no problem with fan voting. The managers/players do a crappy job as well, and it's not like the managers do a good job of managing the game anyways (SEE: Third Base, National League, 2006 All Star Game).
June 11, 200717 yr fan voting is fine until it gets silly in terms of obviously leaning towards large market cities... im tired of the all-star game being a tag team battle of the Yanks/Red Sox v. Mets/Cardinals...it really should go by stats...it would make for a better game and those who truly deserved to be there would be there...Miggy deserves to be at this game without the Marlins having to give away things to catch votes...
June 12, 200717 yr im more sad i cant vote for hee seop choi as an all star this year. Voted for him every year since 04. last year as a write in if i remember correctly since he was in the minors.. and i guess i can do that again, but not the same since he is in korea i believe I miss his crappiness too.

Oh come on. This is the first year the Marlins have actually made an effort because, guess what, fans of other teams are giving Miggy more support than us. It's a little eye-catching that Miggy's #2 among third baseman yet Hanley and especially Uggla (who is easily the second best secondbaseman in the NL, and it's not even close, or like there's name value competition) are conspicuously absent from the TOP 5.

Swift, Miggy is well established around the league. Hanley and Uggla are still somewhat unknown. Give it a couple more years, especially for Ramirez. That being said, I am a bit surprised that Hanley isn't at least 5th.
June 12, 200717 yr Cabs should be a shoe in... I know its a pointless comment, but i dont think he should need the ballot stuffing... he is the best guy out there.

In fairness, Reyes has earned his spot. He is top 3 in O and plays stellar D.

June 12, 200717 yr No way in hell David Wright gets beat out. Even though Cabrera deserves it much, much more.

June 17, 200717 yr When does/did this contest end? it ended Thursday ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yours truly voted 3,000 times for Miggy (clap it up for storky)..I want that damn jersey. I did ballots throughout the second game against the indians, a couple of hours after the game, and I did a box of 2,208 ballots (on a delivery trip to orlando). I had better when that contest, I put in a good 8 hours. ugh. I haven't gotten a call from the marketing department yet....so I'm getting ansy. Another problem: I was gonna call them to see if I'd won, but I HATE talking on the phone... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm seriously considering picking up a whole crap load of ballots of Tuesday and returning Thursday with them filled out in an attempt to win the jersey or bat. You won't have more than me. How many did you do? When I turned in about 550 ballots after the indian game, the guy in charge said that there were a couple of piles similar to mine (this is before I turned in my other 2,500) ..wins a Miguel Cabrera autographed bat. that's the second place prize: 1st prize: Miguel Cabrera autographed jersey (game-used?) 2nd prize: Cabrera autographed bat 3rd prize: Cabrera autographed baseball
