Rick VandenHurk

Rich and Tommy were mentioning how this afternoons game was a "must pitch good" game for RVH. If he doesnt pitch good he might be sent down (I am not sure if R + T heard this some place or if this is their opinion). So, do you think VandenHurk will be sent down or do you think he will make his next start? But Vandy did pitch decently today.

Rich and Tommy wouldn't talk about it unless the team had talked about it so I'm sure they heard it someplace.

I think he'll make his next start.

I think he should be in the minors.

I'd like to see him shut down for the rest of the year. He has 120 total IP this year, in the past 4 years he has pitched a total of 262 innings and only 53 IP in the 2 seasons prior. Shut him down and get him ready for 08.

He has no business being in the Majors right now. If his curveball isnt working to perfection he is paralyzed.

We're not contenders. Send him down.

I thought I remember him throwing in the low 90s during his first couple outings.....seemed like he didn't get past 88 today. Or am I remembering wrong?

As for whether he should be in the majors or not- depends on how committed the Marlins are to going with Nolasco in the 'pen. They could put him in the rotation as it appears he's getting closer to coming back and send Vandy down (or just shut him down, which I wouldn't be against). The only other option I guess would be Gaby Hernandez- I'm sure the Marlins want to see him pitch in the Majors this year, and instead of going to a six-man rotation in September, he could just come up now and replace Vandy. Other than those two options, we don't have anyone that I can think of that would be worthwhile putting in Vandy's spot.

actually the shea stadium radar gun seemed low the whole weekend like lindstrom was throwing 91 to 93 which is not him... but ricks problem is that he uses his changeup in the wrong spots, doesnt use his slider enough, cant throw the curveball for stikes and leaves his fastball up which is in fact his biggest problem...he has potential but im tired of seeing his era barely move cause its in the high 7's.

He should have been shut down weeks ago, he came off of injury last season and we are cranking up the stress on his arm.

I don't want him pitching anywhere. Shut him down, shut him down now.

Fake injury if needed to save face, just no more this year. Please.

I think he would be sent down, if there was someone to replace him....

He's not ready for the majors full-time yet, that's pretty clear.

I'm definitely in the shut him down camp. We've had way too many injuries and being cautious would be wise.

I don't think there is any doubt the kid should be in the minors. He needs to work on some kind of out pitch. A fly ball pitcher with no out pitch and tends to go deep into counts is a scarey combination.

However... I would imagine he gets another start.

I agree that he has no business up here right now but he'll probably get at least one more start. Like Holly said, he kept his composure yesterday and turned another would be disaster into a decent outing.

rest the arm, better safe then sorry kid is pitching tired and I dont want to see another dead arm next year

you know...if we had Kim or Nolasco was ready, we could send him down. unfortunantly, at this point that is not a viable option. I'd like to see him up until we have another solid option. Then, send up Gabby in September and put nolasco back in the pen or take the 6 man option. However, I would like Nolasco to get a few starts so we can see what he's got left, so I'd like to see him first before Gabby.

He definitely should be shut down we're not even taking into account the innings he pitched in the Hawai league during the offseason. Thats alot of inning for a guy who had TJ a little bit ago.
