Scouting Report:

D-backs: Davis pitched well once again Thursday against the Pirates, throwing his seventh straight quality start to get the victory. He gave up two runs on five hits in seven innings, with the only blemish being Jason Bay's two-run homer in the first on a fastball that caught too much of the plate. The homer prompted Davis to say once again he was "one pitch from greatness," as just one critical mistake has often hurt him during this streak. Still, Arizona has won Davis' last six outings, with the left-hander going 4-0 with a 2.66 ERA over that stretch.

Marlins: In his last start, Mitre battled for six soggy innings and came out of it with a no-decision in the rain in Philadelphia. He gave up two runs and logged 99 pitches. The right-hander has won three of his past four decisions, and this will be his second start of the season against the Diamondbacks. On July 24 in Arizona, Mitre endured a loss, giving up seven runs on eight hits in three innings. Mitre has shown terrific control all season. He hasn't walked more than two in seven straight starts.

Just want to point out, if that ball were hit to right-field and Hermida did that, people would be calling for his crucifixion right now.

 

De Aza HAS to both catch that ball, and be playing deeper to a player like Byrnes, especially with 2 outs.
