October 30, 200718 yr What a good choice to manage the great young arms they have next year. :| Girardi was made very well aware that he had restrictions to follow in regards to the Yankees young arms. Brian Cashman made this abundantly clear, I'm sure. Besides, Nardi Contreras and Dave Eiland run the Yankees young pitchers, and the rumor is Eiland is the favorite to be the new pitching coach. Joe Girardi will not be allowed to overwork the Yankees young arms. That aspect of his managing will be under a constant microscope. Throwing Hughes for 125 pitches won't fly in New York. This isn't Florida. He will deal with Hughes, Chamberlain, Kennedy and Horne as Contreras and Co. tell him to, or he will be yanked immediately.
October 30, 200718 yr http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-y...p&type=lgns Girardi is now officially the manager of the New York Yankees. The headline on the Sports tab of the Yahoo! main page: "'Donnie Baseball' Snubbed".
October 30, 200718 yr best of luck to Joe, he will need it.....i am sure he will do a fine job but will he handle the media there, not so sure.... and I thank Loria and Sampson (mini me) for their classless continued bashing of Girardi thru last season... I hpe he does well just to stick it to Loria, and he won't tell Hank to shut the f up or he'll be selling got dogs the next day
October 31, 200718 yr So Ramp, what was that about Girardi being "not even close" to becoming the Yanks manager over Mattingly? Girardi was clearly the right choice.
October 31, 200718 yr I didnt know I could hate the Yankees more than before, I do, a lot. yeah this kinda fits actually.
October 31, 200718 yr I'm looking for a vulture outfit. I'm going to take my nephew trick-or-treating dressed up as Joe Girardi. :thumbup

November 2, 200718 yr So Brian Cashman compared us to the Cleveland Browns, with Girardi being Belichick. Up yours Cashman. I believe you suffer from amnesia.

November 2, 200718 yr I'm looking for a vulture outfit. I'm going to take my nephew trick-or-treating dressed up as Joe Girardi. :thumbup :banghead :banghead :banghead What? That's the only reason he worked for YES, was to wait for Joe Torre to go. (BTW: I was going to dress as Joe Girardi. He was dressing as Harry Potter.) Anyway, :lol at Girardi to take #27, as in wanting to lead the Yanks to their 27th title. What, his own #25 wasn't good enough?

November 2, 200718 yr I actually thought that thing Girardi said about his dad, who has Alzheimer's (If Im remembering correctly) actually speaking when he heard his son got the job to be pretty damn awesome. Now I hope he drives that team in to the basement. :mischief
November 2, 200718 yr so how long before the facial hair ban hits the Yankee clubhouse???? Wasn't there already one, and he brought that over here?
November 2, 200718 yr so how long before the facial hair ban hits the Yankee clubhouse???? Wasn't there already one, and he brought that over here? yep
November 2, 200718 yr Jason Giambi wears #25. sh*t. Oh well... still a stupid reason, because he'll look ever so stupid when he fails.
November 2, 200718 yr so how long before the facial hair ban hits the Yankee clubhouse???? Wasn't there already one, and he brought that over here? I heard he's going to ban pubic hair this time.

November 3, 200718 yr So Brian Cashman compared us to the Cleveland Browns, with Girardi being Belichick. Up yours Cashman. I believe you suffer from amnesia. Certainly an ironic comparison, all things considered (and I'm not talking '03). '03 is the obvious thing -- what else are you talking? That the Belichik Browns had a reviled owner and are now the Baltimore Ravens.
