May 18, 200818 yr Discuss. Positives: Mike Jacobs- I think every ball he hit was stung. Doug- Nice scoreless 2 innings. Negatives: The Hopper Cantu's defense - he is horrible.
May 18, 200818 yr i never saw any of the game today but hoppers line glared out at me he has done an ok job as a marlin but considering the slump we are in over the past week and with the prospect of facing webb-haren-owings next week, do i feel the calling up of volsad is imminent to provide a spark and get us back to winning ways?

No chance. If anything Waechter will take The hopper's spot.
May 18, 200818 yr Well for those of us who have enjoyed a rather comfortable spring (at the park) today was payback in spades. D*mn it was hot ! It's getting to the point (I'm exaggerating) that I'm going to games just to see how many hits Uggla collects and how far Jacobs can drive a ball. I'm waiting for the day with wind blowing out he deposits on in the upperdeck in RF. I said it last night regarding Olsen but somehow (unless the manager and coaches know something we don't and that's pretty likely or they probably would have tried it by now) get Waechter into the starting rotation if nothing else to give Olsen or Badenhop a few extra days to regroup. He is after all a starting pitcher and unless, all but sixteen of his career appearances have been as a starter. I missed Cantu's error, I'll watch it later but we all know he's having throwing problems related to the move from second to third. I wonder if the idea that Fredi had early in the season is revisited which was to move Uggla to third and possibly Cantu to 2nd where there is less strain. At the time the Fish were reluctant to breakup their DP combo, Wes Helms is not the answer at third. For those of you ready to assert emphatically that Uggla can't play third save your breath, a) I'm only speaking in the hypothetical and b) anyone who says they know one way or the other, doesn't. All in all one heck of a sloppy game all around. Certainly a day off is in order (wondering out loud if Fredi has them practicing tomorrow).
May 18, 200818 yr Badenhop vs. Grienke We were outmatched from the beginning. Hopefully, we have a better series against 'Zona. Brandon Webb can't go undefeated forever. We've lost 5 of 6...just like winning streaks (which we had a 7 gamer), bad streaks happen, as well over the course of a 162 game season. Not worried...the series against 'Zona is big...winning that series could be a nice confidence boost for the team.
May 18, 200818 yr I read Cantu's arm is sore because he's not used to playing third base regularly. If so, that is not good.

Both aren't ready. Jorge Julio all over again.

Jorge Julio all over again. its hardly jorge julio all over again he was a veteran who just plain sucked every time he pitched for us meanwhile miller and badenhop are young, hot prospect pitchers who have barely any major league experience they have both shown flashes of their potential this year (eg miller vs washington last week)

May 19, 200818 yr i was at game behind 3 base yes it real hot my wife got sunburn on her leg that 4 inning was mess Badenhop was not doing well in that innng two run in 2 that was nail in coffin for marlins if Badenhop lose next game he should be send down or remove to bullpen
May 19, 200818 yr Author Ok ok, Hopper = bad nickname. He hops from good to bad... time for a new one. His nickname fits him perfectly. Have you noticed he hops after every K?
May 19, 200818 yr Ok ok, Hopper = bad nickname. He hops from good to bad... time for a new one. It's a great nickname. And it's not "Hopper", it's "The Hopper!"
May 19, 200818 yr Sorry to hear about your wife's sunburn miamibb. Try a lotion with aloe. Regarding the heat, what do we think the Marlins policy will be in the new retractable roof stadium...on a hot day with clear skies and no chance of rain, like today?
May 19, 200818 yr Only 10,000 fans for a interleaue game at Dolphin Staduim...Shamefull Yeah, one of the worst teams in the AL. The fates conspired against me making it to a game against them though, which was a real shame. KC is one of the only teams I have yet to see.

Coming into this series, the Royals were hitting .327 in their last five games and it was 93 degrees outside today. Coming in, Badenhop only gave up a combined 7 runs in his last 3 starts and made it to the 6th in all of them. Bumps in the road happen. The guy is making progress. There's no way we should even think about sending him down.

May 19, 200818 yr Stop talking about sending Miller down. It makes me wonder if you guys even watch the team play. Miller's first 2 starts were really, really bad. His 3rd start was tough, but unlucky to a cerain extent. 5 of his last 6 starts were good. He's putting it together.
May 19, 200818 yr one guy im looking foward to seeing is eulogio de la cruz who after his first two starts has been very good
