July 7, 200818 yr It was announced today by Fredi Gonzalez that Chris Volstad would join the rotation and Ryan Tucker along with Mark Hendrickson would be moved to the bullpen. That leaves one more spot for the rotation which will be filled up by Josh Johnson this thursday. Could Tucker be our closer of the future? July 7, 200818 yr This is great news. Now all we have to do is either give Gregg a 5 run lead everytime or address our closer issue ASAP to put a total end to our pitching woes.
July 7, 200818 yr Even though Hendrickson was god awful as a starter, I believe he'll be effective in 1-2 innings stints. Tucker should also be effective as a setup man or even future closer with that electric fastball. Hopefully it all works out for the best. It seems we have a semblance of a rotation and bullpen now.

Tucker can set it up all he wants and it wont mean a thing till gregg gets his act together.
July 7, 200818 yr Tucker will be sent down when JJ comes for sure, unless he pitches lights out in the pen and hendrickson sucks it up in thr pen.
July 7, 200818 yr yeah i think tucker will be sent down when JJ comes back and i too think hendrickson can be effective out of the pen

Also, Lindstrom is up for J Miller. Someone still has to go when JJ comes back.

I'm not so sure we will even see Tuck throw a pitch out of the pen. He threw over 90 on Saturday and is slated for a future starters role. Maybe see him just to face a batter or two in VERY limited relief time. Volstad was slated to pitch Sunday in AA, which would put him in line to pitch Friday there. Best guess is that Tucker goes back to AA and fills that role on Friday. Not so sure that I would place $$$ on it, but it does make sense.

Volstad was actually scheduled to throw today, not yesterday. Also, Gaby Hernandez has been sent to AA to fill in the role in the rotation. And while I'm certainly unsure what the organization plans to do with him, most scouts view him as a closer in the making due to the fact he only has a fastball, but the fastball is so good that he'll make a great relief pitcher. Obviously what the organization plans to do with him is a lot more important than what scouts view of him, but wouldn't be surprised if they view him as bullpen material.
July 7, 200818 yr keep tucker give tank a shot tonight nd if he f***s up again AAA 4 him tuck and roll keeps a spot or keep giving oppertunities to people in the pen who havent done as great and see whos goof enough to stay
July 7, 200818 yr Out of the 2, I think Tucker could be very effective in middle relief. Eventually, I think he could be our closer if Lindstrom dosen't figure it out. But I also think Hendrickson could be solid in the pen. It seems like in his starts he does good in the first 2 to 3 innings and then he sucks. So he'd be good in a mop up role. With these two guys in the pen, I think our bullpen becomes very solid.
