September 4, 200817 yr With has good as Baker swings the bat, I expect him to stay above the .750 OPS line for the next few years. Not that the stats you posted Nny don't tell alot. I just love this kid's swing. He's such a hard worker too, now that he'll be able to see video of the pitchers he will be even more confident than he already is.
September 4, 200817 yr How does Dim think we get Max Ramirez, that's my question. Texas has 3 catchers, and we will have to give up some of our pitching prospects to get him I'd give Baker a shot for the starting job, with Misty Matt as back up.
September 6, 200817 yr This might sound kinda crazy but the FO needs to step up and spend money. We need to fill in theese holes we have and WE CANT keep depending on players that are washed up or USED to be good. I love getting lucky and all but we can't depend on luck to get us there.
September 6, 200817 yr 1. Raynor LF (OBP, steals) 2. Coghlan 2B (Contact, steals) 3. Ramirez SS 4. Cantu 3B 5. Sanchez 1B 6. Maybin CF 7. Y. Molina C (For Uggla/Olsen/DMac) 8. Hermida RF 9. Nolasco P Bryan Anderson from the Cards is a more likely scenario at C, but a man can dream. Think of how weird it will be to be able to steal bases again!!!

Yadier Molina for Uggla Olsen and McPherson? Really? That would be a dumba** trade imo. We can get Yadier for Uggla and a low level minor leaguer, no offense but we would be giving up more than we would need to in that kind of trade

He's 26, entering the prime of his career, very good defensively, starting to hit, and he has a WS ring (with some clutch playoff moments). The only reason why I think we might be able to get him is because they have Anderson in the minors, and could use a 2B and SP.

September 6, 200817 yr I'm interested to see if Baker can keep his #'s steady getting good playing time, this September. I'm still iffy with him...

The average age of the three players you listed is just over 26, which is Molina's age. All of them are in the prime of their careers, except maybe not Olsen yet. I think just giving up Uggla for Molina would be plenty.

Yadier @ $3.25 mil >>>> Uggla @ $5 mil or more Yadier is EXACTLY what we need for the next 3-4 years at catcher.

Edit: Nevermind, it's 2010 when he will be making $4.25M. Molina, who is MAYBE the 5th best catcher, is worth that much more than Uggla, who is either the 2nd or 3rd best 2B, you are crazy.
September 6, 200817 yr I meant he's worth that much more for the Marlins. Uggla is replaceable and catcher is our biggest need. I don't really want a prospect catcher next year (there'll be enough inexperience on the field) and the FA catchers are either scrubs or past their prime. Y. Molina would be perfect until Skipworth is ready.

September 6, 200817 yr I would be very surprised if the Cardinals ever traded Molina this early in his career Also, this is very very true. That said, there is nothing wrong with a little harmless theoretical speculation.

What do you realistically think the Marlins can get for Uggla? I think we've seen that many teams are becoming more and more hesitant to trade a bunch of prospects.

Uggla is one of the top 3 2B in the league. and top 5 in the MLB Utley Pedrioa Kinsler Uggla Cano I think the case for Pedroia is arguable. Sure, he's having a hell of a year but I think this will be the best one of his career. That same argument could be made for Kinsler, and hell, for Uggla. So I think #1 is Utley and then 2-3 is either Uggla or Pedrioa. I'd put Kinsler 4.
September 6, 200817 yr yea but pedrioa has had a few good seasons now and 1 great psotseason last year plus hes plays great defense and has good at bats every time id take pedrioa over utley but thats juts IMO Kinsler is an if because he'll have power number but he wont always hit 290-300 and has horrible defense Utley is good all around but he has calmed down alot as of late im not sure what his numbers are but i bet hes not batting 300 any more Uggla has all the power in the world but he needs to hit like he did yesterday every single game keep your swing nice a easy like a defensive swing and with his power that results in plenty of hits up the middle or thorugh the hole
September 6, 200817 yr If it wasn't for Utley's defense, I don't know if he'd be even #1. But he's the best defensive 2B, and argueably the best offensive, so he is #1. Pedroia is ahead of Uggla because of defense (although Pedroia isn't that much better) and age (Which, even though it's a 3 year difference, amounts more to about a 4 year difference in a baseball season since). Brian Roberts would be in the mix too, surprised he isn't getting any dap. Don't care about Kinsler much. Bad defense and he plays in a bandbox.

Pedroia had a good season last year and is having a ridiculous season this year. If he has another one next year, I'll take him over Uggla for sure. I do understand Nny's point though, about age and defense. Uggla, though, isn't the defensive problem that he once was.
September 6, 200817 yr imo Utley>Pedroia>Cano>Uggla>Kinsler>Punto yes laugh at me, but Cano is just having a flat out off year, he is still one of the top 3 2nd Basemen in the MLB, Nick Punto is a surprise to most on the list, but he is one of the best defensively and if not in the top 5 yet will be there soon.

I am not surprised people do not mention Cano because he has had an off year. I bet at this time last year u were sayin he was the best 2nd baseman in the MLB. Kinsler is good, but i feel this is the best he is going to get. From here i feel he will stay consistent but never reach those kind of stats again, Pedroia is just going to get better with age

HAHAHAHA! HAHAHA! HAHA! (I only did that because you asked me to). Punto sucks, first off. This is the first season in his 7 years that he's been anywhere near average. Plus, he's a backup! He's not even a 2nd baseman! He only started 23 games at 2B this year and all of them where because their everyday 2B, Alexi Castilla, was on the DL. As soon as he came back, Puntolicious was right back where he belongs, on the pine pony. When Alexi Castilla blocks you from being the everyday 2B, you aren't good. Also, I don't think Cano is better than Uggla but I can see the argument for it. This year has been absolutely terrible for him, though. But really, it is hard to take the argument of someone who puts Punto in the top 6 of a position he doesn't play. (Top 6 bench players?)
