December 11, 200817 yr Erick's thread came first, so we'll stick with this one I guess. Anyway, more bad news for the Marlins' hopes of winning the East. The Mets' back end of the bullpen just took a giant leap forward in about 24 hours. This sucks.

They really didn't give up a whole lot, and they got arguably the best closer in basebal from the '07 season. edit: Looking back at his '07 numbers, turns out it isn't even arguable. He was the best closer in baseball. This trade just isn't fair :confused

For some reason, a lot of teams seem to like Aaron Heilman. But I agree...I like this deal for the Mets.

Damnit this blows the mets never give up any thing when they trade. At least heilman and Chavez are gone I hated them. I've heard alot of teams think heilman can start.
December 11, 200817 yr He can't possibly be better against the Marlins than Aaron Heilman was. And I HATE Endy Chavez, he should stay in Seattle forever where he can't beat up on Marlins pitching.....that guy always seemed to kill our pitching staff for whatever reason. Not saying this wasn't a good deal for the Mets, but I'm glad those two are gone from 19 games against the Fish.

December 11, 200817 yr I don't get why the Indians would do this deal, especially giving up one of their best MLB-ready prospects in Gutierrez. I guess they really are that desperate for relief help. Although, they were recently said to be making some progress in talks with Kerry Wood.
