In Palm Beach County, MLBNetwork is on Channel 741 on Comcast Digital. If you don't have Comcast Digital, you don't get MLBNetwork.

Just watched it. LOVED IT! Man, way to psyche me up about this year. My favorite part is at the end when Larkin ends the piece w/ "If they are not playing for the championship, they're playing spoilers. If a team is going down to play the Marlins they better put their spikes on." Love it.

I like to see all the love we deserve but I'm worried about injuries to those top guys. I'm not as worried because we have a deep pitching well but I see one of these guys getting hurt.

On the subject of DirecTV and the MLB Network, there is no way (it seems) i can get that channel. I have almost the majority of all the channels there is to have (except the MLB Sports Package that makes you swallow a ton of channels when you'd only like to watch 1 or 2), and I see that the channel is 213 on my tv but it says channel is not purchased. I called DirecTV to see if I could buy just the channel (or if they were going to rip me off with the "Sports Package") and there is no way I can connect to a person. So basically, im stuck without the channel. Can anyone help on this?

Reynolds saying that we have the best pitching staff in all of baseball surprised me a little bit, and it was nice to finally hear them turn our "attendance issue" into a positive.

 

 

LOL That was a positive?? Leiter says they play in front of about 2500 fans. His average is off by about 14K. They all gave us a back handed slap and people are saying it was a positive spin?? I suppose if you all mean it gives us another excuse to not go to the games then it was a good spin on our "attendance issue." "We don't want to put too much pressure on our guys."

 

Little over a week ago this network and these guys were getting bashed soundly in another thread here. Now that they say a couple nice things they are being elevated to almost genius status. Remarkable how that works out, isn't it?

Wrong. Channel 213. I'm not sure if it's extra or not (we have the sports package), but I don't think so. I watch it when I see something that interests me. Hot Stove is pretty good. And some of the past games/years are pretty good. The Negro League thing coming up Monday looks very interesting.

I was wondering about that. We don't get the MLB package thing, waste of $$$ for us. But we do have the Sports Package. Try going to their web site if you are having a hard time connecting via a land line. We've changed our programming there before.

I have the Digital Preferred package and get Ch 279. On the website it shows that channel label as MLB Extra Innings, but it's not the package that they normally charge like $140 for the season. The only other package that I see that Ch 279 is offered with is the Digital Classic Tier.

That isn't entirely true. Our rotation has enormous potential, but beyond our 1-5 there's nothing but question marks. Sean West is the best pitching prospect in the organization and the best case scenario for him is to crack the rotation by 2010. In any case, we're in serious trouble if somebody goes down with injury or doesn't pan out. This is where signing a guy like Pavano as an insurance policy might have paid off.

 

Alot of people don't seem to realize that depth in starting pitching is one of our weak points right now. The reason we have such a potent minor league system is because of our positional depth.

I think Harold Reynolds was on both panels, but I think the other guys were different.

They have different groups of hot stove analysts which why the above occurs (but I susepect you already know that Bob). Magrane from Tampa seems the most anti-Marlin of all of them but that may have to do with tangental stadium issues as baseball.

The whole network was being bashed, not just the couple guys that weren't on that first panel. Reynolds wasn't exactly getting any love either. And in case it has somehow gone unnoticed, whenever ESPN says something decent the comments are more along the lines of, "They are finally getting it." But if they add in the attendance they are scum.

 

Regardless, I'm still trying to figure out how the attendance was handled in a positive light. "When you are playing in front of 2500 people there is no pressure."
