What would you like to see in the new stadium?

no more Manatees

no empty seats

some decent beer selections

People like the Manatees. Yes, it's silly, but they get a great crowd reaction each and every time, better than the Mermaids.

Some batting cages, a baseball pro shop, decent food, a huge high def jumbo tron bigger than any in baseball.

A Cuban-themed cigar bar that has a perfect view of the field. I know that's already part of the plans but when I heard Samson say this I was so pumped. Smoking a nice cigar, maybe drinking a cocktail, while relaxing and watching the game... that sounds like the best time ever.

I would also like to see an innovative scoreboard. I have heard rumors that one of the scoreboards in the outfield is gunna be one of the only ones in the MLB that hangs down instead of being held up. I also heard rumors that the screen is gunna be much more than just a plain old screen. It's gunna be part of the theme and decorations of the ballpark, so that it blends in with the scenery around it instead of looking like a huge box at the top of a stadium. If there is another one, I wouldn't mind having it look like the one at Citi, Yankee, or Enron (I chose to call the Astros park this on purpose :) ).

I would also like to see the name be something cool. For a long time I have been a proponent of giving the naming rights to Bacardi. Their distribution HQ is located here in Miami, it's run by a Cuban family, liquor is such a Miami thing, and Bacardi is just a sick ass name. Maybe you can name the stadium Parque Bacardi. I know it's in Spanish but if you don't feel like saying "Par-kay" you could just say Park. Park Bacardi sounds pretty raw if you ask me.

I also wanna know what's gunna be out at CF. If Loria doesn't tell me I am gunna be against the stadium forever!! :) j/K

I don't think anybody will be lining up for naming rights in this economy. Businesses have the money but it just looks bad.

They will sell the naming rights. Loria's life depends on it.

And estan, it would be cool to see the scoreboard be kind of distinctive, kind of like how the Heat's center jumbotron has the huge flat screens and is designed like a huge sun. I could see them putting a big Marlin at the top of the scoreboard, kind of looking like a Marlin is jumping over it.

Remember guys, Loria IS an art-dealer, he has great taste and, more specifically, is VERY flashy. I expect this stadium to be nothing short of the best facility in baseball.

Hopefully the economy will have picked up by about 2011 when I'm guessing the naming rights will be estimated to be sold

What business could tell its stock holders that it's looking out for their best interests in this economy if they go out and spend $150 Million to buy our stadium naming rights? Next to none.

Now isn't the time for any business, even if they're doing well enough.

They are not spending $150 mil. They would be investing it. If a company told me as an investor that they are pursuing naming rights for a stadium (in Miami), what that tells me is that there is a good possibility their stock would rise.

Tampa had a cigar bar for a while when they first started up. It was okay. Nothing spectacular, just okay.

I still fail to see why because it's run by a Cuban family should have anything to do with it. They are still going to have to pull in fans from the entire South Florida community and not rely on a Cuban population that has already shown can be as fickle as the rest of the population. Sounds like you just want everything to be Cuban theme based and that just isn't going to work. Not a great idea to alienate the majority of the population just because the place is built in a Cuban neighborhood. The place should reflect the fan base, very diverse and because of that, different than any other place in just about every way.

That said... I wouldn't be opposed to Bacardi Park. Their logo could be a half empty bottle.

I agree completely. Someone said they wanted to build Latino-themed shops or bars or whatever all around the stadium. That would alienate the hell out of a big fan like me, who speaks about as much spanish as my irish ancestors...

I completely embrace the culture in South Florida, but I can't be consumed by it entirely. That would be annoying.

But it really is not the fact that it's run by a Cuban family that I am trying to stress. It's the fact that it's HQ is in Miami. I just added the Cuban tidbit because when you think of Cuban living in the US you think 'Miami.' I mean, I only used the word "Cuban" once and I really focused on the fact that Bacardi even smells like Miami.

Bacardi Field sounds better.

This is the name I'm hoping for.

As far as food goes: I just want regular size Pizzas to replace those tiny Papa John's that are gone in two bites.

I do understand where you are coming from. I do not want Marlins fans to be bombarded with "Latinness." Hell, as a Cuban American, if i hear salsa and spanish-speaking for the entire time im around the stadium I would lose my mind. I have enough of that in my life. Trust me, not even Latinos want a 100% Latino experience at the stadium. That would just be obnoxious... like my Cuban grandmother :)

Bacardi Park would be cool... though I just cant see the field landing an alcohol name haha.

Mississouke Seminole Field. Yes.

The Fish Bowl will easily be the nickname though.
