Bonifacio is just any baseball player(who is currently flying off the shelves in fantasy leagues, btw). absolutely not. Maybin will have the better year, almost certainly. but they are both talented players, who can do good things for our team. why hate one and worship the other? why not just treat them both as what they are? hope for the future. I think I am treating them both for what they are. That's the thing, I think you are misunderstanding what a lot of us are saying. I don't hate Boni and agreed with him being out opening day 3B. But most of us here hate (strong word) what Fredi decided to do with Bonifacio, not Bonifacio himself.

You would have been a fool to have done so, right? Since it is only one game, it does not prove anything more than this: you never know what will happen next game. If you ask most people on this board, I would guarantee that the majority will still say that Maybin will have a better season than Bonifacio. You're right, you never will know what will happen the next game, or any game for that matter, but it isn't ridiculous for someone to make a logical prediction based on previous stats that the two of them put up. I guess what you're looking for is for all of us to predict that Bonifacio is going to be the next Luis Castillo, right?

I told you guys back in August that the Dolphins were going to win 11 games!" Those were stupid predictions, even if they did end up right.
April 7, 200917 yr That was a beautiful game to watch on the DVR coming home from a long day at work. As long as Bonifacio keeps playing like he needs to prove he belongs (and despite today he still does need to prove that), his play could be interesting. His speed is scary. It was good to see the Marlins bats awake early and the retread relievers getting their groove on. I suppose it is too much to ask for all of these players to stay near the top of their game all season but I'll at least let myself bask in that delusion for this night.
April 7, 200917 yr no prediction can be that stupid, really, except for maybe 4 hits and 3 bags in EBs first game. just saying what the stats themselves suggest will happen is hardly a talent, anyhow. and then group-think kicks in and outside-the-box posting becomes discouraged. not a good cycle for a forum to fall into, IMHO. I myself just said Maybin will have the better year, Dynasty. I never predicted Bonifacio would do well. I just thought people were being a little to certain that he would fail. He still might, anyhow.

When EB made it 4-4, the play by play announcer says, in disbelief, "and Emilio Bonifacio is batting 1.000 against his old ball club, the Washington Nationals." the color guy bitterly replies with: "he'll be hitting .220 by the end of the week" I couldnt help but LOL

Hanley's grand slam was exhilarating Nolasco was dominant except for one pitch Hermida's line drive HR was very impressive Cantu's homer and play at first reminded me of his value Bullpen was very effective Great start, great win. Then Al Leiter, on MLB network, ties to spoil it by saying that there will probably only be 1600 fans at the game tomorrow. I guess he is still upset about being released by the Marlins in the middle of 2005 when he was 3-7, with 6.64 ERA.

I'm willing to bet he got a butt chewing in the dugout for that one. That's not his job anymore. His job is to drive in runs. But, truth be known, I thought he did it to surprise the defense and to try for an IF hit.
April 7, 200917 yr I was brought up in a different era of baseball where getting the extra base was of major importance. Speed and SB's made careers. We have been spoiled by the Homerun, few people appreciate the intricacies of the running game in baseball Amen. And the end of the steroid era is going to change some minds. Even during that era, when everyone was saying chicks dig the long ball, I would say I'm not a chick.

His name escapes me right now. If so, he's a total jerk/hypocrit. I watched a Marlins @ Nats game this ST and he was doing color. Constantly bashing the Marlins orginazation. For instance, when Maybin came up to bat he said, and I quote, "This is another guy that the Marlins stole from someone." Real hateful like. Problem was, Scotty was pitching to him.

April 7, 200917 yr I think the best part of the game was the fact we answered back with runs every time the Nats scored. The individual accomplishments were great, but knowing we have an offense that can immediately score runs is comforting.

Only when he figured out that it might not be caught did he start to crank it up. Which is amazing, considering that anyone else who did that would have wound up on 3rd. The guy is without a doubt the fastest guy wearing any major-league uniform.
