  1. They have to be planning on spending money on some free agents or something. I find it impossible to believe that this is it. I think we're going to punt 2013 and then spend wild for 2014. We're clearing the books for 2014 basically. We will have to ridiculously overspend (which will probably create a repeat) to get a FA to sign here. What player would really want to sign with this franchise?
  2. @Buster_ESPN: The Blue Jays-Marlins trade is done... This is going to be one of the all-timers, with Reyes, Johnson, Bonifacio, Buck, Buehrle...holy crow.
  3. @Ken_Rosenthal: Inclusion of Reyes unconfirmed. What we know: Buerhle and Josh Johnson to #BlueJays. Escobar, Hechavarria to #Marlins. And more both ways.
  4. Not crazy about it. But dont hate it as long as the Hanley money is spent locking up Stanton and on a bat in the offseason. I think punching inanimate objects then missing more games because you didn't take your infection meds was the final straw...was for me. Hanley has sucked and not acted like a pro. You can do one, but not both.
  5. In terms of selection where is the best place to get gear online?
  6. Been a fantastic offseason so far.
  7. Been a great start to the offseason. I hope some pitching concerns can still be addressed. But it's the first time in a LONG time I've had something exciting to follow during the winter meetings. And like the original poster said we may not have got Pujols or Wilson but we got Reyes, Buehrle, and Bell which is an excellent haul and possibly a much smarter use of money then Pujols for 10yrs/$220M or Wilson for 6yrs/$80M. LOTS of reasons to be excited/happy for any Marlins fan!
  8. This was the FA I wanted the most. We really need rotation help.
  9. I've been defending him since day one of this, and now he goes and does this...
  10. There are a lot of Cardinals fans in the part of KY where I live. They are distraught right now at the thought of losing him. Also, the Reds fans are being especially bitter towards me becuase there team isn't doing anything...I love it. Man it sucks being a Cards fan right now. I remember the way I felt when there was that talk about Wade considering Chicago. Is losing Pujols worse than the '97 fire sale? Fair comparison? Trading Cabrera in 07 That was the worse. I'd flip Miggy for Pujols right now...

I remember the way I felt when there was that talk about Wade considering Chicago. I do actually feel for the Cards fans. The Reds fans can kiss my arse.

  13. If he comes on the cheap I'm definitely for it.
  14. Does anyone know if there is a way to listen to the press conference on an iPhone?
  15. Erick... if you can make it work and make it reasonable... there's no reason to NOT get Pujols if the FO is willing to spend. Of course they can't let that get in the way of them making a proper rotation... But that isn't a reason for them to call it quits on Pujols. Just because he's TOO high of a name. I just don't think I'd be willing to give any 32 year old a 10 year contract, which is why if we can't lower the years I'd stay away. In the same vein, I'm currently trying to make it work between Scarlett Johansson and myself. Pujols is getting 10 years from someone. Personally, I'd be shy of anything over 6 years.
  16. Unless they find a retarded GM they would have to eat salary to trade him. The Red Sox, who need pitching, have traded for Hermida and Miller, just saying...... They are also a big "advanced stats" team and Nolasco routinely kills those.
  17. It what ended up being a lost season Jack was the one saving grace. We'll miss you, again.
  18. Guillen was dealt for Kyle Skipworth and OF Christian Yelich according to mlb network. No he wasn't, MLB Network isnt even reporting. They are showing the Rangers game god damn it lol i was jk! but I do wonder who we dealt. Can we get this idiot banned? No lie, though, that claim scared the sh*t out of me. My heart dropped for a second.
  19. I want Worley + (obviously they probably wouldn't do that) ... So you want another World Series, Phillies, it will cost ya. Worley would be a fantastic get for Nunez.
  20. This is horrible. Ricky may not make a F'in out!
  21. Haven't been able to watch a game in a few days. Turn this one on and this is how it starts. Maybe I need to go back to not watching.
  22. We really can't afford to get rid of any starting pitchers because, outside of Hand, we really have nobody in that department who can provide reasonable assurance of decent performance starting next year. Like I said, it depends who you get in return. If someone offers you more talent then what you are giving them, you always take that trade. Starting pitching can be found in free agency. Nolasco is okay, but not irreplaceable. Not really. Good SP is normally developed, unless if you're a big market team who can overpay for the top ace, which this team is not. You're not going to find a better pitcher than Ricky Nolasco in free agency - at least not this upcoming offseason. Here is the list: Mark Buehrle CWS Chris Carpenter STL * Bruce Chen KC Aaron Cook COL * Kyle Davies KC Ryan Dempster CHC * Justin Duchscherer OAK Zach Duke ARI * Jeff Francis KC Freddy Garcia NYY Jon Garland LAD * Aaron Harang SD Rich Harden OAK Livan Hernandez WAS Edwin Jackson CWS Kenshin Kawakami ATL Scott Kazmir LAA Hiroki Kuroda LAD Rodrigo Lopez CHC Paul Maholm PIT John Maine COL Jason Marquis WAS Kevin Millwood NYY Scott Olsen PIT * Roy Oswalt PHI * Brad Penny DET Oliver Perez NYM Joel Pineiro LAA CC Sabathia NYY (may opt out) Carlos Silva NYY Javier Vazquez FLA Adam Wainwright STL * Tim Wakefield BOS Chien-Ming Wang WAS Brandon Webb ARI C.J. Wilson TEX Chris Young NYM * - player whose current contract includes 2012 option
  23. How about considering throwing something at Cincy for Brandon Phillips? Living up here in Louisville I can tell you for a fact that the Reds consider themselves contenders and wouldn't even entertain such an idea. If anything they will be buyers.
  24. On the road today so I don't know how much I'll get to watch but hopefully this can be the beginning of a winning streak!
  25. Is Hanley just getting a game off or did Jack bench him in game one?
