Anonymous
I wouldn't mind. It would free up some money, too.
I Love Me Some Fish
Sure. However, I don't think we have anyone better to replace him. Assuming we don't sign CJ.
Admin
I won't miss him. I hope they sign a free agent pitcher or two and trade Nolasco for a CFer.
Hotcorner
not exactly the way I was hoping he'd pitch after a nice multi-year deal...
ultimopain
For this to happen we need to re-sign Vazquez and sign a starter like CJ or CC, otherwise, unfortunately we need him.
I Love Me Some Fish
Well you need to think of a way not to let Javy retire. And that doesn't include drastically overpaying him.
Dr Beinfest
Ricky does an excellent job at a bottom tier pitcher. Just not at a bottom tier price.
Entendu
And who replaces him? If he's gone, the Marlins absolutely need to sign a CJ Wilson and then start looking at Buehrle and all the other FA pitchers.
Dr Beinfest
If they genuinely have plans to potentially spend to 100 mil, finding pitching shouldn't be too hard.
marlinsno1
Think the Marlins regret not taking up the Yankees on discussing a possible trade during the middle of the season?
canada-marlin24
yea i was never sold on him. maybe after the 2008 season but not since then. his contract should have come then and now last year. as i said before, hes has 1 year with an ERA below 4.50. that is not worth 6, 9, and 11 million dollars. FishFan88
Don't like the rollercoaster ride, don't like his hair either. Totally in favor of shipping him out if we can upgrade. But he is in the commercial for the new park. is this really a possibility? Given Loria's attentiveness to detail regarding the marketing of our "new team" .....just something to think about. enterthemadness
I'm fine with him being dealt. Just need to upgrade over him is all. Interesting off-season it's gonna be...
Schnellders
If we were to trade him, we damn well better sign some pitchers first. However I can see us trading him on the presumption that we will then sign some FA's who will no doubt then sign with other teams, leaving our rotation in an even bigger mess. Cos thats the Marlins way...
fanofthefish
He doesn't appear at this time to be worth the money he's being paid. That said, the Marlins really don't have anyone to replace him. There's already a hole where JJ is concerned and one can only hope he'll be ready next year. Trading Nolasco at this point doesn't help, they would have to re-sign Vazquez, sign a free agent or two (probably will have to overpay for anyone on the market as the Red Sox need pitching) and then hope someone else steps up. Too many questions to get rid of him now.

mystikol87
By the way, who told Nolasco or let him think that pitching to contact is better than strikeouts? For a guy woth his strikeout ability, that's stupid.

Admin
Nolasco's strikeouts are down (bad), but so is his FB% (good). His GB% is up too (good), but so is his LD% (bad). I'm not certain that he's changed his approach intentionally, but it seems like he's lost his ability to overpower hitters, so he's getting smacked around. There hasn't really been a change in velocity, so that leads me to think that his arsenal of pitches just doesn't have the effectiveness that it once had. Out of the Past
Unless they find a retarded GM they would have to eat salary to trade him.
