Worst Bullpen in Marlins History

Featured Replies

Unless you have names like Braden Looper or Armando Almanza or Vic Darensburg or Jesus Sanchez. You definitely do not have the worst Marlins bullpen of all time. Its always nice to have new fan...

Wow....I always like Looper and Darensbourg. Looper would be our best RP on this team.

Him, seriously?

Here is what your guys did for us.

Derensbourg: 5.00 ERA, 1.477 WHIP.

Looper: 3.69 ERA, 1.389 WHIP.

Kiko Calero's career: 3.54 ERA, 1.204 WHIP.

Well, I guess this is probably a good time to say that the "Worst Marlins Bullpen in History" is 2nd best in the NL in ERA.

If both statment is true, then "'Worst Marlins Bullpen in History' is 2nd best in the NL in ERA" really say something about our team bullpen history. :mis2

Other then Renyel Pinto & Matt Lindstrom the pen has been fine, and those two have looked good at times also.

The problem with the club is lack of quality hitters! Outside of Cantu, and Hanley who's been hot as of late who else really has one anything?

We saw Mayben sent down finally, and soon I hope Bonifraudio is also sent down, and if Hermida to me is all but a lost cause I mean how long will we wait for him to have a break out year?

I have a feeling Uggla, and Ross will be just fine but Hermida im not to sure about, and Bonifraudio I know for a fact is hurting us out there.

Our starting pitching has been weak outside of Josh and Chris, and even Ricky has had his struggles, and now with Anibal down, and Miller still sucking it's going to be tough.

But I think the pen has done a nice enough job... It's the rest of the team that's playing craptacular baseball right now.

I love how people say Pinto is terrible... but he has an ERA of 1.23!!!

OK his WHIP is probably bad, and I do think he's been overworked again which could mean he's due for a 2nd half collapse... but I think we should give him a liiiiiittle bit of credit for the way he's performed thus far.

10 walks in 14 INN for pinto. That's not exactly sexy. 1.57 WHIP...

era for reliever is really not a good stat.

For what it's worth...

(Lindstrom minus the Philadelphia outing so far)

Innings: 12.1

Saves: 6/7

ERA: 0.73

WHIP: 1.14

K/BB: 12/6

SINCE that outing against Philly (to take it one step further)

Innings: 6.1

Saves: 3/3

ERA: 0.00

WHIP: 0.95

K/BB: 7/4

Obviously, some small sample sizes here. Just trying to point out positive signs.

Stats aside, I'm agreeing. Matt is still a little scarey at times. but he is getting the job done. I look more at the WBC for the initial problem. But we have had some other good closers that kept me on the edge of my seat because they made that 9th inning "interesting." Dragonslayer pops right into mind. Not that I'm comparing the two, just saying.

Pinto worries me coming into a game. Always has. But it looks like he is getting it together the more the season goes on. Looking at season stats for a reliever isn't exactly the correct way to do things.

Of course not. Stats are evil.

Hopefully, it continues.

I know its still relatively early in the season and while I still don't have confidence in him when he pitches, Pinto has been on good form. I am also amazed that our organisation always seems to pick up random pieces for the bullpen, in this case Meyer and Calero and somehow get the best out of them, as both of them have been extremely valuable assets so far.

I'm still pensive on Meyer but I have no idea how we were able to get someone as good as Calero, with a great track record going back to 2003, for almost no money. It's shocking that he wasn't given a better offer by any other team (that we know of).

Erick needs to aim for this more often in his snarkiness. Sometimes he's a bit too aggressive. This was good.

Erick needs a good shoe to the face everytime he rolleyes.
