Posted May 17, 200916 yr Nice all-around team win. Miller puts in a decent outing in his return from injury. Bullpen does their usual solid job. And finally we get enough runs to put a team away. :thumbup Uggla and Ross are starting to chip in on the offense lately, good signs. Oh and John Baker is awesome. After last season we were thinking this was too good to be true, and just hoping that this year he could put up anything remotely close to that. Well so far he's out-OPS'ing his '08 total. :o
May 17, 200916 yr The positives of our season John Baker, Jorge Cantu, Hanley Ramirez, JJ, Chris Volstad, Bullpen Negatives: Everybody else Let's turn some of those negatives into positives soon!
May 17, 200916 yr Not quite sure what to make of Miller's performance. Only giving up 2 runs in 5 innings is perfectly acceptable however those 4 walks are typical of him. Nice for him to get the win on his return. Those 2 runs we got in the 8th were HUGE and as a result Lindstrom got a nice easy, comfortable looking save.

I was happy to see his fastball in the mid to high 90's.
May 17, 200916 yr Hopefully Miller is on his way back.... Excellent job by the pen Now that we got a win theres only one thing to do... LETS GO STREAKING!!! Git r done!

I'm just hoping it was a bit of rust showing from him during that first inning. He looked better after the first it seemed.
May 17, 200916 yr Some of Miller's pitches on Gameday were supposedly thrown 97 mph. Can anyone confirm this? Gameday has a history of, you know...being awful.
May 17, 200916 yr It was really nice to see Miller limit the damage. Minus the first inning, Miller did pretty well. Coggie raked that ball in the 8th inning. Did you see that? I thought that was gone and it was dead center. I really like his approach at the plate. Boni has looked a lot better than a few weeks ago. Hopefully this is not another tease Jeremy has looked great the past two games. I guess some home cooking did him well . Uggla looked better today... he hit a rocket to the 3rd baseman in the 8th, walked twice and got a single. Very nice Great win by the lovely boys.
May 17, 200916 yr Is Boni the new Cody Ross? Super streaky...awesome when he's on, automatic out when he's not. Not the worst player type in the world, but not suited for the leadoff spot. ps.- Bake!

Miller got a lucky 5 and dive win. amazinly none of his 4 walks scored the marlins needed this win bad
May 17, 200916 yr Some of Miller's pitches on Gameday were supposedly thrown 97 mph. Can anyone confirm this? Gameday has a history of, you know...being awful. PitchFX, which isn't 100% but is at least solid and consistant, had his highest at being 96.6, total of two over 96 mph, average speed of 91.68. Cetainly great to see his velo back but where was the slider? And no control. Hopefully just rust as others have said.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't throw one. But yeah I didn't see a slider.
May 17, 200916 yr Oh, and to BroncoBob, who I know will see this tomorrow morning. Sorry I didn't get over there, but my buddy who was my ride didn't get to my house until 30 mins before the game. I barely made the first batter. Also, the people who are most happy about Manny being suspended are those who had JP on their fantasy teams.

May 17, 200916 yr people were having party in fishtank with gaveway win make it better it was well game play by miller and hitting was their with baker hr near me in fishtank so it fun day at ballpark with win That was terrible. I mean, it was fun and such, for the kids I guess, but when it gets to the point that you are throwing trash on the field and messing with the hitters, it's just wrong.

May 17, 200916 yr Oh, btw, for those of you who didn't get to see any of the game on highlights or something, but the pompom giveaway ended badly: Video There's a really good chance Saturday night was the last time the Marlins are going to have Pom Pom giveaway night. In case you weren't at Land Shark Stadium you probably missed the silver lining in the Marlins 6-3 win over the Dodgers. It was all over the field -- silver strands from the 15,000 pompoms given away before the game. Fans spent most of the night tossing those strands in the air, which eventually landed on the field. Players weren't happy. Dan Uggla called the situation "brutal." John Baker, who hit a two-run home run to break a 2-2 tie in the fifth, got deeper. "Absolutely brutlal,'' Baker said. "The thing that was really frustrating is you look up and see people shaking them like its a joke. Its frustrating when stuff is flying all over the field and they're shiny and they hit the lights... I think you focus for the moment and your OK. But seeing stuff all over the baseball field... baseball is obviously America's past time and to see like that all over the field is very frustrating for a player."
May 17, 200916 yr The pom poms were bad. My pom poms are still intact. There were some really bratty kids throwing them around us. It was like a Christmas tree puked all over the field.
