Josh Willingham-OF- Nationals Jun. 13 - 4:45 pm et

Nationals placed outfielder Josh Willingham on the bereavement list.

Willingham will leave the team following the death of his brother on Saturday morning. Corey Patterson will take his place on the roster.

I haven't found any other details so I don't know what the circumstances were. Still, I feel for Hammer. He was always one of my favorite Marlins since he kind of bridged the gap between 2005-2006. Maybe this should be in the ML forum but I wasn't sure.

Man what a shame. Poor Hammer. :(

Oh no, I wonder what happened :( .

RIP

Car Accident

Nationals manager Manny Acta said Willingham's younger brother was killed in a car accident Friday night.

Very sad. RIP.

Wow that's horrible. Crazy that someone can be there one moment and not the next. Things like this make you appreciate many things a whole lot more.

Agreed. RIP.

Damn. I really liked the Hammer. RIP

I think I remember them interviewing his brother in Dolphin Stadium when Josh made his ML debut. Sad.

sad to hear that i hope hammer is ok

Hope Hammer is ok, and RIP hammers bro

Such a shame. My thoughts go out to Hammer and his family.

Life sucks at times. I still miss Hammer in a Marlins uniform loads. Respects and best wishes from t'other side of the pond...

:( RIP

My condolences go out to him and his family.

I hate to be "that guy" but I feel this has a better place in the general MLB forum.

That being said, I want to send my condolences to Hammer and his family

Whoa so sad to hear!

I wish Hammer, and his family only the best wishes in these hard times.... My deepest condolences to them, and lets keep them in our prayers everyone.

I miss Hammer too. Glad he's with the Nats if it can't be the Marlins, but anyway, this is very sad. My thoughts are with Josh and his family, and RIP to his little bro.

Be careful out there folks, a lot of people go too soon and most of the time it happens on the road...
