Posted June 30, 200915 yr What about trying to make a move for him? I dont know about his contract situation so this might sound stupid but hes has 21 HR and has 54 RBI with 13 sb. yes hes batting .268 but hes still a solid 3rd basemen. just a thought what do you guys think?
June 30, 200915 yr Reynolds is actually making league minimum ($422,500) for the next two years. So from the Marlins standpoint it would make sense. And considering the D-Backs are about 11 games back of the wild card lead, 18.5 games back of the division lead, they will obviously be sellers at the trade deadline. Thing is, if they are going to sell, it will be the bigger contracts. Add to the fact that if we are going to try and trade for him they will probably ask for a good prospect or two in return, it really doesn't make too much sense for the Marlins and D-Backs. The most sense for the Marlins at this point is to wait it out until Gaby Sanchez is ready to take over 3B. If we are still in contention come the all star break, the most likely trade we will be making would be for a reliever, aka the Arthur Rhodes trade of last season.
June 30, 200915 yr of course the marlins would take reynolds in a heartbreat but why would the dbacks trade him. he's making very little money and is young. the dbacks are not going to break up their core of young players (upton, reynolds, drew, haren). when they become sellers they'll trade veterans like eric byrnes, clark, felipe lopez, davis, and garland.
June 30, 200915 yr Author are bullpen has been good though we need a more consistent bat in the lineup way more than another are in the pen. Not really saying Reynolds is the most consistent bat out there but he would definently improve this team.

Not really saying Reynolds is the most consistent bat out there but he would definently improve this team. Mark Reynolds is also sadly having the best season out of all the NL third basemen. He really isn't tradeable. I mean would you trade a .916 OPS who only costs you league minimum?

June 30, 200915 yr We would probably have to give up a lot in order to get the Dbacks to trade him. I say just wait for Gaby
June 30, 200915 yr Author Seems you have a tough time reading. Reread my first sentence and get back to me. you said hes sadly having the best season of all NL third basemen. is he having a better season than chipper, blake, wright, sandoval, or zimmerman?

Reread my first sentence and get back to me. you said hes sadly having the best season of all NL third basemen. is he having a better season than chipper, blake, wright, sandoval, or zimmerman? Mark Reynolds- 21 HR's, 54 RBI's, .358 OBP, .916 OPS Chipper Jones- 9 HR's, 33 RBI's, .404 OBP, .886 OPS Casey Blake- 11 HR's, 48 RBI's, .359 OBP, .861 OPS Wright- 4 HR's, 40 RBI's, .428 OBP, .914 OPS (high batting average) Sandoval- 11 HR's, 39 RBI's, .387 OBP, .955 OPS Zimmerman- 13 HR's, 44 RBI's, .370 OBP, .866 OPS Only true player you can make a case for is Sandoval being better, Wright would be but his home run total is so low. The power Reynolds is putting up is undenyable, and makes him the best player this year. and to Scotty, yes he leads the league with 102 K's, but he only has 8 errors this year, wouldn't consider that terrible considering Bonifacio has 13 errors.
June 30, 200915 yr I'm pretty sure he's top 5 in the league for strikeouts and errors. Hell he might be ranked #1 or #2 in both of those categories.
June 30, 200915 yr Author but david wright is batting .339. despite him only hitting 4 hr you know the power will come this year and he will finish with 25-30. id rather have wright and sandoval
June 30, 200915 yr Reynolds defense is horrific, so someone like Wright or Zimmerman is having a better overall season than him. And some body said he makes the minimum the next two years. That's wrong. He makes the minimum next year, and is arbitration eligible after 2010. Not a big deal, but just saying. Lastly, compensation would be outrageous for him. Not a real option.
June 30, 200915 yr I would do it, lord knows he loves hitting in Landshark/Dolphin/Huizinga's Wallet Park.
July 1, 200915 yr I think we should go after Alex Rodriguez. Good Idea, then we can sell him to a team in Japan for twice as much as he's making now so we can afford any player we want next season, It's so crazy it might just work.
July 1, 200915 yr Wrong thread, whoops. If I must contribute, I don't think he's available for the type of players we'd be willing to give up.

Not being a dick, but you started this thread, and now you've basically...changed it. And to Dim's credit, he's just posting the #'s.
July 1, 200915 yr What about trying to make a move for him? I dont know about his contract situation so this might sound stupid but hes has 21 HR and has 54 RBI with 13 sb. yes hes batting .268 but hes still a solid 3rd basemen. just a thought what do you guys think? That could possibly be the most retarded suggestion I have ever heard. Reynolds has the most strikeouts in the National League. We don't need any more strikeouts. At least recently Bonifacio is making contact. Also Bonifacio has scored 10 runs in the last 8 games. He has hit in 8 straight. Reynolds is no better defensively as they each have made 13 errors. Plus. Bonifacio is much faster and we have enough power already. In the last couple of games you can't say in anyway that Bonifacio has hurt our team. Also, I don;t see you complaining for Uggla to be traded. Boni is hitting 26 points higher than Uggla. (.224 compared to .250) Bonifacio scored two runs (that one against Baltimore and the one tonight) that possibly nobody else in the league can score.

July 1, 200915 yr Reynolds would take our offense to another level, fisherman. It is not a retarded suggestion.

Lol, there are some valid reasons for not trading for Reynolds, but "we already have bonifacio" is not one of them. This post is bad.

Perhaps if this thread were about Dan Uggla someone would be complaining about Uggla's lackluster season but this thread is about whether or not acquiring Mark Reynolds is a good investment on behalf of the Marlins. So unless you are suggesting Mark Reynolds play 2nd base, I don't see what Uggla has to do with this thread.
