What is our rotation now?

Featured Replies

Josh Johnson only pitched 2 innings tonight, and they were fairly easy (not to mention, we just passed the All-Star Break, and he didn't pitch in the All-Star Game so...)

When is JJ's next start, and what is our rotation looking like now??

If I had to guess, it will probably just go on as if he did pitch an actual game tonight and send out Miller for Sunday.

The way it is written in the ESPN Marlins schedule is:

Sun: Miller

Mon: Empty (but most likely Vandenhurk)

Tues: Volstad

Wed: Nolasco

Fri: Johnson

Fredi said the plan right now is to stick with the same rotation and use Josh on Friday.

With every game counting towards our slimming playoff chances, I wish Fredi would start to arrange the rotation to get the best guys out there as much as possible.

I heard that Fredi said there was still a chance of JJ starting on Monday.

Florida has not named a starter for Monday's game against the Padres in San Diego, but Gonzalez ruled out bring back Johnson on such short rest.

"We're working on when he's coming back again," Gonzalez said. "He probably will stay on his normal rotation which would be Friday, unless something wacky happens again [sunday] with the rain. That's what we're planning to do right now. The earliest we could bring him back would be on Wednesday but as of right now, he's going on Friday."

thats such bs. JJ shouldve started on friday if i was managing. Get the best pitcher in as soon as possible as long as its not on short rest.

It feels like our rotation is all over the place, maybe its just me.

I feel like JJ gets a start about once every month.

According to the article in today's Palm Beach Post, JJ is slotted to pitch again on Friday but Fredi didn't rule out having him pitch on Wednesday if he was needed.

When is West eligible to come back? He can take Miller's spot.

West gave up 3 HR in his AA start.....he's not coming back.

And this makes us better, how?

Call up clay hensley or put badenhop in there

FWIW Clay Hensley is actually doing very well in AAA. 3.54 ERA with a 3.99 FIP. I could see him putting up a line close to his '06 line. Maybe something like 5 K/9, 3.5 bb/9, 0.8 HR/9 = 4.41 FIP. It's certainly not ideal but I hope at the every least we put him on the 40 man to keep him from being a MILB FA. The whole reason he's been nothing the past couple years is because of injuries and it looks like he's back. Very solid back of the rotation GB pitcher

oh

just noticed he'd actually be arbitration eligible

what about nic ungs from AA? 5-2 2.00 era 30'ks 14 bb's

He sucks

He's 29 in AA and didn't have a job this season until we hired him because we needed warm bodies to fill out the Jax rotation sometime in May and he had had a long history in our org already. He'd still be mopping floors at Wal Mart if it wasn't for that.

you cant suck with a 2.00 era. are you joking me? hes over a 2:1 k to bb

see willie glen last year

glen was terrible in AAA so there you go. All im saying is promote him to AAA to see what hes got if he sucks then put badenhop in but he has atleast shown he can do good in AA unlike koronka

He's minor league filler, nothing more, nothing less. He really has basically no hope of ever touching a major league roster. Really, don't worry about him at all.

I mean sh*t, he's 29 years old and playing kids that are 22. That's like saying I should get a NBA contract cuz I can beat the sh*t out of middle school kids.

not thats a terrible comparison because there are 22 year olds in the majors doing good and helping thier teams. i dont see any middle schoolers in the nba helping teams

But why?

Miller just doesn't give the Marlins many chances to win, isn't that the whole point? True at this point he's a better choice than Koronko or Taylor, but unless he furthers his development he'll be at best a sub-.500 pitcher that taxes the Marlins bullpen just about every time he takes the mound.

So, Sean West accomplishes all those things, but Andrew Miller doesn't?
