LOL...did this really happen?

Saw this on the Cubs board:

I cannot stand this team. Following is a quote from Pinella

Piniella apparently was unhappy with an on-field promotion, too. In reference to the supposed billy goat curse on the Cubs, the Marlins paraded a goat onto the field.

"Tasteless," Piniella told the media. "Every time we come here, they do some kind of gimmick. I don't know who thinks them up. I mean, when they come to Chicago, we don't fry marlin."

I agree with Lou. Because I live in Florida, I have to watch their tasteless unprofessional announcers constantly talk about 2003 and Bartman. Get over it already. Do they have to continually rub our noses in it. It was extremely painful for Cub fans. Enough is enough. Don't they have anything else to talk about. Most times I just turn off the sound because I cannot stand them.

Tell Lou, and that loser who posted that, to Cry me a river.

I for one thought it was hilarious. Even Cubs fans were laughing at the gimmick.

Stop crying Cub fans, You might when another championship in about another 100 years.

The attitude is just a Cub fan problem. Trust me, I'm friends with a lot of Cubs fans and for a long time my love for them was second only to the Marlins. But they carry such a negative attitude towards their own team that it's not fun associating with them on baseball terms anymore. We're critical of Jeremy Hermida, they were critical of Sammy Sosa even as he provided offense at an unparalleled rate.

Maybe if they had won a World Series in the last century, they wouldn't be so sensitive.

This is just good humor everything doesn't have to be professional. This is all good fun that helps promote this sport. GO HARD OR GO HOME.

It's called having a sense of humor.

The Cubs and their fans are a joke.

You know what would have made 2003 and Bartman and the goat disappear? If Alex Gonzalez knew how to field his position. Bartman didn't score runs for the Marlins, odds are, Alou may not have caught that ball anyway.

That's all.

Hahaha! :lol Good stuff.

Lmao shouldnt "sweet" lou be more worried about his star reliever not being to throw strikes , also anyone who calls rich and tommy "unprofessional announcers" has no credibility.

lol when I was in chicago i went to a marlins cubs game at wrigley (marlins won in the 12th).... there were big billboards that said "Fish Fry - This weekend", and signs on restaurants saying "Fish Fry"...

the cubs fans also got mad and littered the field with bottles and other trash after a call and lou got ejected....

basically they are mad because we have 2 ws titles..

Thats what I always find so funny is when people hate on our announcers for being homers. Yes, they are huge homers. But they are doing the broadcast for MARLINS fans, not fans of other teams.

But let's just think twice next time when we complain about when we have to watch the Rays broadcasts (and their epic homerism) and everyone else who takes jabs at our lack of attendance.

As if the Cubs announcers don't openly root for the Cubs ? Have you ever heard the White Sox announcers ? Biggest homers in baseball. Yet they pick on Waltz and Hutton ? Ridiculous :banghead

The Rays problem isn't homerism. It's that Dwayne Staats is one of the most unenjoyable and uninteresting guys to ever be in the broadcast booth.

Waaaaaaah Waaaaaaaah Waaaaaaaaaaaah.

just showed this to hubby, who is a Cubs fan. He wasn't amused. But I was. :lol

Apparently, the Cubs have never been to another stadium other than Wrigley, as this is not really that much different from what other teams do to "pump up the crowd" with their mascots and others.

As far as Tommy and Rich bringing up 2003 and Bartman, that's part of history, our history, with the Cubs. Of course they will bring it up, and it is fair game. It is something that happened on the field and directly involved a player (unlike our attendance which the team themselves have very little control over). It is not like Tommy and Rich are making fun of Sammy Sosa taking roids. When Cleveland comes to town, should Tommy and Rich not mention 1997 at all?
