Posted September 1, 200915 yr RT @MarlinsMedia: Tonight's moves: rhp Luis Ayala designated for assignment, Cameron Maybin recalled effective tonight
September 1, 200915 yr also Badenhop activated, Hayes & Vandenhurk up. Hurk will be Wednesday's starter.
September 1, 200915 yr Vandenhurk is starting Wednesday, as well. Vandenhurk has had success against the Braves so this bodes well for the team.
September 1, 200915 yr Hopefully this can spark the team. We really need something to wake us up! We also need starters that can go past 2 innings.

September 1, 200915 yr I know that the offense for the most part hasn't been the reason why we've been losing games, but I think we really need a spark or else we'll end up exactly where we are right now- a couple games out from the wild card spot. It may be somewhat of a gamble to tamper with something that has been productive enough, but I really want to see Maybin get some starts in the OF to see if he can provide some high energy play and help energize the rest of the team as well. We really don't have much to lose at this point. The entire season has pretty much shown what we are, just good enough to be a couple games out, and I just don't think we have much to lose. Maybin may play just as poorly as he did earlier in the year, but our team hasn't been a playoff team without him either. If we stick with the same lineup that we've been running out every game, we probably won't make the playoffs. That much is certain after losing ground again tonight. But if we can find a spark somewhere, we probably still won't make the playoffs. But it has the possibility of increasing our chances and we need to look for the small improvements we can get anywhere. There is nothing left to lose.

It's still a team, the guys feel it when we lose and they also know the pressure is on. And they are choking when the pressure is on. When the pitching has been OK (like tonight), the offense has sputtered. Then we have good offensive nights where the pitching is crumbling. We're seeing the bad performances not just from the bottom of the roster, but from everyone. That's why it doesn't matter where it comes from, we just need one guy to provide some excitement and give the rest of the team some hope and some reason to believe that they can win this thing.
September 1, 200915 yr Looks like I'm going to be busy updating my sig every game he strikes out three times.

September 1, 200915 yr Looks like I'm going to be busy updating my sig every game he strikes out three times. Dude, I'm as skeptical of Maybin's real production potential, long-term and short-term, as just about anyone. But I certainly wouldn't have a signature that seems to be celebrating, however cheekily, the failures of one of our players, at least not in such a manner.
September 1, 200915 yr Looks like I'm going to be busy updating my sig every game he strikes out three times. :lol :lol I know this will BUTTHURT alot of people in this board, but i see Maybin as the next Milledge. Both have all 5 tools and never turn into nothing. Just like Andrew Miller.
September 1, 200915 yr I'm sorry...but with the Giants signing Penny and it looking like the Dodgers will aquire Garland...I don't see Maybin being a formatable addition to the playoff roster. We could have had either of those 2 right now but, instead, we have Maybin. Sorry, but that's not gonna do in the playoff run!
September 1, 200915 yr huge moves just went down at midnight on the west coast...so I think we can chalk this up as the end of the road for the Marlins.

Hence, "Hopefully, this can spark the team." Bringing up Maybin and Gaby (that I can remember) really seemed to provide the team with life. Let's hope this works again!!! I have to agree with Bret Hart in that seeing Maybin and Cogs out there would be interesting.
September 1, 200915 yr Looks like I'm going to be busy updating my sig every game he strikes out three times. God, you are one hell of a tool. What kind of "fan" is practically rooting for their own ball player to fail?
