Is Fredi Gonzalez the worst manager in baseball?

Featured Replies

Lets just keep Leroux out there even though two guys whacked balls off him and you just made him walk the bases loaded. AHAHAHAHA

IDIOT!

Yes, cause this is the first backfired move any manager has ever made.

No its probably the fourth Fredi has made in this game alone.

Name all of them.

I mean, seriously.

If he's this bad, you have to be able to name all 4 obviously terrible moves he has made in the game.

I'm going to guess if he had brought in someone to pitch with the bases loaded, you would've said "WHY WOULD YOU BRING IN (Insert reliever X, Y, or Z)? FREDI IS THE MOST STUPIDED!"

In regards to the four terrible moves, I most likely exaggerated, but I did miss the first three innings so who knows what I missed. And after you ask a pitcher to intentionally walk the bases loaded you do not leave him in. Don't care who you bring in, they are most likely BETTER than LeRoux

Oh did you really exagerate? Shocking.

Leroux's been great this year. Why not let him try to get it? He got the first two outs with no problems.

You're a kneejerk.

whatever bro you have your fun???

Bottom line is Fredi is not too good of a manager. You trying to argue that?

I think he's a major league manager. He very rarely, if ever, does things that 80% of managers in the bigs don't do. So unless you're bitching and moaning about the Bruce Bochy's of the world too, you're being a knee jerk.

Bro.

This isn't worth a thread, but I'll say this. Fredi has to be one of the 5 worst managers when it comes to managing the bullpen in the majors.

However, he is VERY good when it comes to deciding who to pinch hit and send in as defensive replacements.

I think his daily insistence on pulling Gaby in the 8th for defensive purposes is pretty stupid, actually. Gaby's not great defensively, and admittedly it does improve our defense moving Cantu to 1B and Barden or Wes to 3B, but there's been a couple of situations where we could've used his bat and had to settle for the Brian Bardens and Mike Lambs of the world.

I know this qualifies as knee-jerk lololol, BUT, thanks for leaving Badenhop in for a THIRD inning Fredi.

Our alternatives aren't really that great. If you take out Badenhop, it means you bring in either Jones, Pinto, or Sanches. I'd say you'd want to save Sanches as much as possible since he's the best option we have left, so really it was down to Pinto or Jones. Given that Badenhop did well his first two innings, I'd say it's reasonable to think he's a better option than Pinto or Jones.

If Fredi had brought in Pinto or Jones and they blew it, I am quite sure you would have said he is the worst manager for making such an obviously stupid move.

Yes because his other options available were awesome. The game was lost when Leo Nunez and John Baker decided to be dumbasses, thinking it would be cool to use the closer's 3rd best pitch in a 1 run game.

seconded.

Oh well tonight was one that got away. Tomorrow is another chance. We'll win, its not the end of the world brother.

Yeah, but when you have a chance to win a game started by Tim Lincecum, you have to capitalize on that opportunity.
