Craig on the mike

Featured Replies

I watched the game last night and was surprised to hear FRANK pinch hitting for Tommy Hutton. Well, huge props to FRANK! I thought he did an oustanding job. And not to pick on anybody (I'll watch the Marlins regardless of who is announcing), but I think FRANK is the best of the three.

Epic thread fail

I imagine that Tommy's texts were more insightful than the job Craig would do in the booth if he was ever chosen

:ban

It was Frank as said in the previous posts. But besides, Craig best of the 3? Thats a joke right? Craig is the biggest douche in the LAND! Guy is a pure cocky scumbag! Conine > Craig

I love Craig, he's an important part of my Marlins game watching experience. But he's definitely not a booth guy, he's too much of a fun & excitement type of reporter to really come across well as an analyst. Frank wasn't too in-depth, but did a very nice job. There is such a chemistry between all the guys on the team that when one is not there, the others can pick it up like they were because they can anticipate what the other guy would have been saying.

We should call up the Jacksonville Suns announcers from UNF

Awesome.

Oh, and Fish4Life pretty much said why some people here, including myself, don't like Craig.

Frank on the other hand is the nicest guy. I remember once at FanFest he was holding a large video camera and when we started walking towards a door behind him, he held it open for my fiancee and I, hands full and all. I met him one other time and he was super approachable, just like any other dude who just happens to be on TV. Craig acts like a superstar.

That's cause he is. Don't hate.

I'm going to name my second son after him. The first will be named after former Dolphin QB Sage Rosenfels.

You must be the guy who bought the Sage Rosenfels Experience on eBay,

Woah, I didn't realize so many people hated Craig. :thumbdown

I met him at a Panthers game and he didn't act like a douche or a "superstar". Nice guy...

I'm poor and can't afford the rates that a superstar like Sage Rosenfels would command.

I actually remember that whole thing and thought it was about the funniest thing ever. I was always a huge fan of Sage, but we laughed our butts off at finheaven when a 3rd string QB started selling his presence like that.

I'm so surprised that Craig didn't make the trip. I remember Frank mentioned he worked those games Craig didn't want to work. So Frank rarely leaves South Florida. He's not that bad in the box. Obviously Rich and Frank don't tease each other like Rich and Tommy do, but he's a lot better than a lot of others. Can't stand TB commentators . :thumbdown

I agree...Kevin Kennedy is TERRRRRRIBLE

I couldn't care less about Kennedy. Dwayne Staats has a voice so bland its annoying, and I would actually watch a lot more TB games (when the Marlins aren't on) if watching them didn't require listening to him.

I don't like Dwayne Staats either. Both are pretty bad. I realize they are homers, just like ours are homers, but at least we don't cut down/make fun of the other team. (Or maybe I'm prejudice and don't hear it.) But when I listen to TB commentators, it seems like they spend a lot of time saying why their team is so much better, how their team is not getting a "fair deal"/bad calls, etc., and point out all the holes/exaggerate the holes of the other teams.

How about listening to a radio station or gameday audio and mute the sound?

Well, most of the time when I'm watching them I'm actually doing something else while I have the TV on. Usually there's just not much else on that I want to see until our game comes on. Yet Staats' voice makes me not want to just leave the game on in the background, while having to tune in a different source just for audio would be way too much involvement for the casual background viewing that I want to do.

BTW, it's not any kind of homerism or even what they talk about that bothers me. It literally is just how awful Staats' voice is, like he was working all of his life to achieve the most boring voice possible because of the mistaken belief that all announcers should sound that way. This isn't CNN, and even news stations are going with younger, or at least more personable voices, because the days of bland meaning professional has gone out the window.
