I Love Me Some Fish
The positive of him not pitching him is that we know Veras shouldn't close another game and just stick to the 7th inning.
Erick
I've never been a pitcher, and maybe Leo being a small guy has something to do with it...I don't know. All I know is, it only would've been his 3rd consecutive day pitching. That's not unheard of, and this was indeed a big game. With that said, this team is actually at least playing with heart these days. Earlier in the year, it felt as though the games were over once the other teams went ahead. I said last night that I think Veras and Hensley should swap roles, and I think it'll happen. As a matter of fact, I think it already has happened. That's why Veras was closing tonight's game, instead of Hensley.

dom2613
I guess this is the post game thread. Donnie is the anti Mike Lamb. Does anyone else think Donnie looks like a younger Wes Helms? At least his hair cut and facial features. We really need to get another BP arm and bad.

I Love Me Some Fish
Our bullpen is getting worked and sanabia reallllly doesnt help. Kinda sucks to only have 3 definite starters....if Vols gets brought up soon, he needs to pick up his sh**
fanofthefish
IMO its more important to have Nunez for the long run than for a game where he may not have been his best. Shaky would best describe his pitching yesterday, so maybe a day off will help him.

Shaft
Only thing I found questionable is why Nunez cant pitch on a 3rd day in a row. Apart from that, I didn't see anything wrong with Edwin's decisions. I don't like making excuses, but I do wonder if that 13 minute delay affected Veras. Quite honestly, I think people are splitting hairs here. Veras has been pitching better then Hensley lately, so he got the 9th instead of him. Not a great day for him, but still a great day overall because when the rest of the team picks up someone else'd slack, that's what greatness is. We're at .500 for the first time in a while, and if we manage to scratch a win on these close games, maybe we'll be in a much better position when the team (hopefully) gets on a good tear
Admin
He threw 41 pitches the past 2 days which is a lot for a closer. Had he thrown 25-30 then he probably would've been available today.

Sirspud
I think the FO may be right in thinking that we're gonna need another bullpen arm to make a run. Hensley is starting to wear a little bit, Veras is not going to be lights out all the time, Sanches is best where he is, and Marinez is too raw. We need one more legitimate back-end guy just to provide reinforcement and options, which is the thing we're truly lacking right now although we're still better off than we were a month ago. My bad I got my games mixed, I of course ment Wednesday's game, Still if he wasn't at his best no reason to send him out.

Hotcorner
I very much look forward to the Jose Ceda Experience. yeah if they deem that Ceda is ready for a call-up soon, he could very well be the boost this bullpen needs to be really solid. For me he's the favorite to be the closer before long as well.
mystikol87
He hasn't completely mastered the whole "don't walk people" thing yet either, but he's got an awful lot to like.
MrMarlinPride
At least we got the win that's all that matters and the bright side is that now Leo is available for the last 2 games of the series which I hope we need him for to close the door on the Braves and get the sweep! I think it has as much to do with his size and the heat/humidity as anything. I said last year he would end up wearing down towards the end of the season because of that, and was bashed for saying it. But it happened. He tossed 41 pitches closing the last 2 days. Hopefully we need him Saturday and Sunday. Friday being a "big game" or not, giving hm a day's rest was not a bad idea. In this stretch they are all big games.
