August 19, 201016 yr WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TEAM CHEMISTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VETERAN LEADERSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE'S GOT IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A DOUBLE RAINBOW! A DOOOOOOOOUUUUUBLE RAAAAAAAAAAAINBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S SO BRIGHT!
August 19, 201016 yr LOL this thread is going to be awesome! But in all seriousness, this is pretty bad. I don't dislike Wes as much as most people here do, but even I have to say that this is pretty stupid. On the bright side, maybe this means Loria is going to open up the checkbook?
August 19, 201016 yr Really, Loria is giving Helms a million dollars to go to Vegas and try to increase it. Unfortunately, Helms does not hit on 15. Or any value.
August 19, 201016 yr Ehe On the free market, does he get more than a minor league contract? I doubt it. Maybe about 800 to 900 K but nothing more. Stupid Veteran Leadership...
August 19, 201016 yr I don't understand why this is such a big deal. He a decent bench player for cheap. Plus, he takes his job seriously. Who else could we get for thAt price?
August 19, 201016 yr I don't understand why this is such a big deal. He a decent bench player for cheap. Plus, he takes his job seriously. Who else could we get for thAt price? Give me a minute and I could answer that question. Chad Tracy could be one.
August 19, 201016 yr Really, Loria is giving Helms a million dollars to go to Vegas and try to increase it. Helms was dealt 11, while the dealer had a 9 showing. Unfortunately, Wes Helms doesn't know how to hit, so he lost all the money. FTFY.

The price is what irks me. That million should be spent on an upgrade bullpen arm. Benches can be crapshoots sometimes, especially since they're filled with veterans past their prime who don't want to retire. The only way this makes sense is if Loria starts to spend a bit more this offseason - specifically on pitching.
August 19, 201016 yr There are some on here believe the FO can do no wrong, this part of the reason we cannot put butts in the seats, a million for what.
August 19, 201016 yr This is just unnecessary, is all. Why does Wes Helms, of all people, earn an in-season extension with more (per year) than his old contract? He's been terrible this year, remember?
August 19, 201016 yr I don't understand why this is such a big deal. He a decent bench player for cheap. Plus, he takes his job seriously. Who else could we get for thAt price? Chad Tracy. Eric Hinske Wilson Betemit Christian Guzman Juan Uribe (would probably be paid more after this season) Garret Atkins Mike Lowell Randy Winn Mark Kotsay Brad Hawpe (probably worth more but may be released withtin the upcoming week) Xavier Nady Hank Blalock All F.A. next season who could be worth arguably about 1 MM. To Add on from our team, Donnie Murphy and maybe Hector Luna.
August 19, 201016 yr Author Brad Hawpe (probably worth more but may be released withtin the upcoming week) Reports are he'll be released after today's game.
August 19, 201016 yr Well at least its only 1yr/$1 Mil. It's not like he'll be getting too much playing time next year anyway. It's still a pretty surprising move nonetheless. I can't wait to see Erick's reaction, lol
August 19, 201016 yr Brad Hawpe (probably worth more but may be released withtin the upcoming week) Reports are he'll be released after today's game. Solid that lowers his value.
August 19, 201016 yr Hmmmmm, could this be a signing as player-manager ????? Okay don't scream at me too much LOL :lol
August 19, 201016 yr EEEEEEEEEEEEE-RIIIIIIIIIIIIICK! EEEEEEEEEEEEE-RIIIIIIIIIIIIICK! EEEEEEEEEEEEE-RIIIIIIIIIIIIICK! .............
August 19, 201016 yr You guys realize that the news has killed Erick. That's why he hasn't post yet. RIP
