September 30, 201016 yr I know this could be applied to athletes in any sport but it is something to talk about. Now say Pujols was actually DESPERATE to play for the Marlins after his contract ends next season. It is a fair estimate to say he can command $30m a year which obviously we cannot afford. Over the past 7 years or so he has made $100m+. Can some sportsmen not just accept a major pay cut if they were so passionate about playing for a particular team. Say he accepted $15m per year, is there really THAT much difference to his lifestyle if he "ONLY" adds $75m over 5 years rather than $150m to his already amassed fortune of well over $100m?

Players union would never let it happen. It lowers the bar regardless of the reasons. Schnellders-did you read your accountants thread?

Had my 1st interview yesterday and waiting for the outcome. Think it went reasonably well considering it was my 1st ever proper one. Obviously there is a few things I have thought of since I wish I had said but its never going to be perfect, and at least it was by no means a disaster. Quoted time was 45 mins to an hour, and mine lasted 1 hr 10 which I see as a positive, especially considering I know someone who lasted only 30 mins at the same company last week and was rejected just 2 hours after leaving.

September 30, 201016 yr That article was the worst piece of fiction I've read since they made me read "1984" in high school. There is absolutley no way this ever gets done, thats not the Marlins way to do business, they keep young inexpensive players until they have to trade them.

BUT HE LEFT CLEVELAND SO ILL IGNORE ANYTHING POSITIVE.
October 1, 201016 yr and we can still have our starting pitchers consist of Johnson, Sanchez, Volstad, Sanabia, and West. that's a poor rotation. If we had a bunch of extra money to get another SP....
October 1, 201016 yr http://thesportsbanter.blogspot.com/2010/09/what-would-it-take-to-acquire-pujols.html This almost made me spit out my drink.
October 1, 201016 yr Hanley has put up some very good numbers, but he has yet to put up the monster numbers of an Albert Pujols. I hope one day he becomes that yearly MVP candidate type, but has not yet reached that level.
