Murphy winning 3B job

Featured Replies

I don't know why anyone thought the JJ thing was a big deal. Perhaps some people were upset that I had anything negative to say about Edwin.

The "JJ thing" is just a matter of Edwin lying about why JJ didn't pitch against the Nats. See above.

The guy either lies or hedges about everything. He seems to have a problem with telling the truth about anything. Too much obfuscation. I don't think that bodes well for his longevity here. That he loves Boni may go down well with Beinfest but it will probably not result in good things happening on the field. Hopefully he will think better of what is probably a bad idea and keep him on the bench.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Rodriguez added that he'd like to see Emilio Bonifacio and Greg Dobbs at third

So. we already know he lies routinely about minor injuries when there's no reason to do so

He even lies about minor sh!t like why JJ didn't face the Nats.

Then there's this ridiculous Boni-love in the face of all reason.

I'm liking Edwin less and less by the day. I don't how it will play out over the season but I suspect that Loria is going to get tired of a BS artist who spouts nothing other than cliches when he's not outright lying.

:banghead

Surely we can do better than this, and I expect we will for '12. More probably we'll get a start on it in the second half of this year.

wow. yeah mountains out of molehills dude.

Murphy will do fine at 3B, so long as he gets five games a week.

If Edwin starts jerking the lineup around to get his boy Bonifacio playing time as a starter, the defensive will suffer.

Looking at Murphy's AAA numbers don't you guys think that a .265/.320/.480 line is possible?

That sounds pretty good to me. The guy has a ton of minor league experience, I think he might do better than expected.

I think its impossible to forecast what Murphy will do. He's about as big of an unknown as there is. The strikeout numbers at the MLB level scares the crap out of me though

Anything is possible.

Likely? I'd say no.

i think he has the defense and it will improve along with his solid arm.

hes a cody sized guy but he has pop as we all know.

if he can stay consistent and keep bonifacio on the bench, i see .275/.330/.475 with about 15 home runs and 60-65 rbi. of course assuming that he plays all year.

Why do you think he automatically has the defense? Just wondering because he's coming off of major wrist surgery.

Anything to keep Boni out of the lineup. I agree with y'all that love for Bonifacio is scary and could be Edwin's downfall. :(

hes been good defensively, even with oakland and has a good arm. made some great plays last year as well including one game that i went to.

I'm positive Edwin won't make the mistake Fredi of keeping Boni in the lineup even when he is doing nothing ('09)

Wrist dosen't appear to be bothering him at all. I think it's a non-issue at this point. And he does make some pretty nice plays at 3B. Not GG caliber, but he's not going to be an embarassment either.

Besides, he's a stop gap starter right now. But it will be interesting to see if, being more or less the every day starter, if he can adjust to ML pitching making adjustments to him. And if he can't, or is slow doing it, how long it will take the fans to turn on him.

We all know what you're getting at; you're not very good at being cryptic.

If he's given 4 months of abject failure without even a hint of making a move to improve (Like Bonifacio was) then he'll be unloved as well.

D murf is the new cody. Calling it.

Marginally effective, but a fan favorite?

+ streaky and you got it.

I fail to see how an .800 OPS player with Cody's defense is "marginally effective", and if we get that out of Donnie Murphy, Dominguez won't sniff the majors until Sept.

unfortunately the marlins are not going to go out and get someone good to fill the position. So am I surprise by Murphy? not one bit. Bonerface has more value as a utility player that can spell pretty much everyone on the field. Dobbs is our "left handed" off the bench and Helms is just too old to play every day.

It sucks, but its the best the marlins have given the circumstances.
