Conine behind home plate last night really took be back to the good ol days, I felt very nostalgic. Do you think they are grooming him to become the new Marlins commentator.

I believe Tommy Hutton will be our color commentator until he no longer wants to be.

 

Jeff is in the roll he and the team want him to be in.....sort of a 3rd man in the booth/behind home plate throwing in commentary here or there.

Hutton will remain as long as he wants, besides I don´t think Conine wants to do all that travel. I do think Allison Williams should permanently replace Craig Minervini, she does better interviews and is a really nice eye candy.

He's been doing this since like '08, so I doubt it.

Allison is decent eye candy if you look past her nose, but she stutters 50 times per interview.

Yeah I´ve noticed she lacks confidence, but at least she ask real questions rather than put words into the players mouth.

God I hope not.

I thought i would miss Len Kasper wen he left, but i really like Waltz-Hutton. After watching many marlins games thru MLB.TV on away broadcasters, i think they may be top notch, one of the best. Now, MLB.tv has evolved and i can watch waltz-hutton on home and away games.

 

If would only accept Conine if Hutton stays.

Conine has improved greatly over the last couple of years.

 

From absolutely horrible to bad to tolerable, even enjoyable at times. He seems to getting more comfortable on-camera.

 

Even though he's only given faint hints that he has a personality much more interesting than a dial-tone, he's already vastly superior to Forte. I hope that Conine either takes his spot or gets 100 times as much air-time. Craig, too, for that matter, but everyone needs a side-kick.

 

With any luck, Hutton will be around for a long time. Waltz, too. Allison is nothing but a sop to political-correctness. If she disappeared tomorrow along with Forte I wouldn't ever give either of them another thought.

What would we do without Tommy's rants?? I'm a big fan of Tommy and Rich as our broadcasters and wouldn't want that to change. So I hope it stays that way for some time. I'm fine with Conine in the position he is in now, not sure if I'd like it if he were to, say, replace Tommy. It wouldn't be the same.

Mike Lowell would make a great commentator, but looks like he´s not interested.

John Baker is the guy I think of in terms of future color commentators. I think he'd be perfect in the role.

Off topic, I wonder if Allison has ever dated a Marlins player or something.

Allison Williams was flat out embarrasing at times last year but has improved a lot and seems to know what she is doing now. I still remember when she suggested Logan Morrison could be playing some third base....funny thing is I can see the troubled look on Morrison's face if he were ever asked to do that and begrudgingly did it.

 

I enjoy having Jeff Conine around, but not because he is a great commentator right now. it's because he is Jeff Conine. He's gotten better, but Rich and Tommy are as much a part of my Marlins memories as most of the players, considering they've been here longer than anyone.

I miss Jay Randolph and Gary Carter, I remember id wait till 7:05 and race towards the tv to tune in Sunshine network, only to find out they were airing the miami heat insted :confused oh..the sinking feeling..

I must say that after watching tons of different guys broadcasting games that T-Hut and Rich are my favorite duo. The duo of Mark Grace and whoever else it is that calls the D-Backs games is really good too. Grace goes on rants and brings a lot of energy similar to Tommy so it's an entertaining broadcast. I used to watch the late diamondback games just to hear Grace calling the games.

 

I also sent a photograph to Tommy last year and it was of him and Rich calling a game from the booth and without me even asking he took it to work with him and had rich sign it as well. Stand up guy! They had better keep T-Hut until he has one foot in the grave.

Rich and Tommy work great together. I would be really upset if either of them left the broadcast.

I'm really not a fan of hers or Minervini. I like Frank Forte. I hope to god that Conine is NOT the Marlins new commentator. He has no personality whatsoever, however I do appreciate his candor.

I think it is pretty obvious Jeff Conine is being groomed to replace Craig Minervini. Whenever those two comment on games together you can cut the on-air tension with a knife. And I can't say I'll be sad to see Minervini go. I don't think he ever really cared for the Marlins at all.
