Post Game 5/13

lol Hanley taunting Minervini in the postgame.

Dobbs with a GIANT pinch-hit there.

This seems to be as much as we can hope to get from Volstad. So many crazy plays... Hanley starts the great DP, Beradina's catch, Choate bails them out in the 9th, Omar's ridiculous slide, 4 homers,....

I'm exhaused.

Is that German?

it certainly should be

Well done, well done.

Vol-Suck and Dunn were terrible.... Boner went 0 for 6... Some long ball action tonight from the O and a clutch slide by Omar... If we weren't eyeing a shot at post-season, I'd say we would be stuck with Volstad all year. 2 of our 5 starting pitchers are a liability.

A Deutsch treat

no English at all Infante? c'mon man, 10 seasons in the majors... :mis2

If that's true, that is just sad. At least broken English...at least enough to pay for things..

Whoa. unbelievable slide by infante and clutch hit by dobbs. i was praying that leaving dobbs on third wouldnt hurt us and a good job by leo.

And still the bullpen couldnt do it and thats in part to some pretty stupid pitching by dunn. Big win but of course the phillies won as well.

5 innings, 1 run.

You guys seriously expect a bullpen of 7 Mariano Riveras, don't you?

came damn close to blowing it and when you have guy 0-2 and up by 1 in the 8th, a good bullpen closes that out.

That's like saying: "a good bullpen never makes a mistake pitch."

And a superb job by Wes Helms. Keeping the bench warm. We're now 12-3 when he doesn't make an appearance.

that wasnt a mistake that was stupid. even tommy mentioned how he should have known he got away with 2 pitches yet he went back with the same pitch again and got burned.

with 2 outs burke almost blew it and mike morse came within a foot of winning it. i will give them credit but hardly any of the innings were easy for them.

Volstad made a couple of bad pitches and had 7 K's getting better. The young 24 yr old is not a liability. Actually pitched pretty well according to Tommy and Rich.

Just got back from the game, metro is awful.

First off, the Nationals have a pretty nice stadium had a great feel, makes me excited for the Marlins next year.

I got LoMo's autograph shortly after B.P. and wished him good luck in the game, he signed my teal jersey with the neatest signature possible, the man is a beast and is literally 3x my muscle mass, my head came up to his chest, was pretty surreal, and then seeing him later homer off Clippard, yea pretty amazing.

Started off well obviously b2b HR's by Gaby and Buck was great to see.

Hanley starting to finally hit the ball for average.

I think it's apparent the Marlins would have won in regs if not for Bernandina.

Stanton got robbed by Bernandina who had a ridiculous game at the plate, we will probably see that play for weeks if not months.

Volstad was well Volstad was both good and bad the 1st inning was good and then the 5th and 6th were good, but other than that nothing special, team needs to learn how to hold a lead.

Bullpen was good and bad obviously Webb got into some trouble but had a sweet dp from Hanley, Dunn was bad 2 walks iirc and eventually a tie ball game.

Badenhop in the 9th (.......Hey Erick......) it worked buddy! :) honorable mention to Choate. Mujica pitched well against first two batters but almost blew it with Morse you guys probably saw how close that ball was to being out, was insane. Leo closed (as he should) pitched fantastic.

Love that Edwin trys new things out and doesn't just stick with one way of doing things... see Freddi via Pinto.

Ridiculous win, I actually didn't get a good look at Infantes slide but I heard it was pretty epic, will watch highlights shortly, will be at both tomorrows game and Sundays game.

Stantons HR was effortless and ridiculous, how fast it left, man is a beast.

Only down night was Boni, I think his magic is wearing off...

No way I thought we had any chance to win in the 9th or 10th...

Awesome! LoMo is cool! :)

His age means nothing to me, I just don't think Volstad is ever gonna be better than what we saw tonight.

For some reason, this part jumped out...

Again, THIS WAS A ROAD GAME!

In a home game, what would you be saving Leo Nunez for? There's a difference. Edwin managed both situations the way every manager manages it, nowadays.

At home, the closer is used in the 9th.

On the road, managers decide to not do that because there's still a possible save situation later on in the game.

And for what it's worth, it didn't work; Choate bailed Badenhop out.

Not sure why Edwin would use Badenhop tonight before using a guy like Mujica, but whatever.

haha in watching the highlights on marlins.com and when you watch the stanton home run about 3 or 4 people right behind home plate had their jaws drop when he hit the ball.

that was one of the more entertaining baseball games ive seen in awhile. Im soooo happy we won! Lots of homeruns, that one by Stanton was a rocket. Where's the poll?!

I wasn't around for this argument, but Erick is right.

A manager just about always uses his closer in the 9th inning of a tie game at home and just about always saves him for the save in a tie game on the road.

i have no idea why it didnt work.

HEY EURRRRK

I don't care what logical response you can formulate. Badenhop in the 9th. Leo when we really need him ;)

Uh, how is a tie game a lower leverage situation than a game with a one run lead?
