Jesus Christ ... what in the blue hell? Didn't they think after the first one, they should have done something for safety precautions? If I'm anyone in this person's family, I am suing since it happened before and they changed nothing.

Edit- after reading, little different situation, but still ...

Seeing as they happened in two different parts of the stadium, I'm not sure how the team is to blame.

Just think they should have higher rails at all points where a long-distance fall such as that can occur. Idk.

And I wasn't exactly blaming the team, more the decision to not have higher railings.

How awful. :(

The railings are probably about the MLB standard, I would guess. It's more coincidental than anything that two fans have fallen in consecutive years.

The only person to blame here is the fan for not being more careful. You accept certain risks when attending a MLB game and must utilize good judgment and common sense to avoid injury.

Btw, I wonder if that kid in the front row was his son....

Alright this is very sad... especially considering what i actually read.

They said the guy who fell was a fireman at the game with his son, his son literally watched his dad fall 20 some feet to his death head first.

He probably isn't even old enough to know what happened.

... God this one hurts, I don't even care about baseball when stuff like this happens.

----

This should be blamed on whoever designed the staidum, there shouldn't be that gap right there anyway, it was a poor construction process and wasn't thought out and this is the 2nd death there at the stadium, ridiculous.

at first it didnt even look that bad then you realize its pretty crammed behind that scoreboard.

If you put yourself in that situation and see how he was falling his arms and hands probably weren't in the right position to brace for anything.

I can imagine it would be doing a hand stand and then having someone push your legs slightly forward while doing the hand stand, thats how he probably landed, an awkward position.

The fact that he was up and fine talking to some of the baseball players is what sucks even more, it's scary.

I'm sorry but is a ball worth dying for. This is a general statement not nEcessarily just a comment about this gentlemans accident. I know I'm being callous but you know, personal accountablity has gone by the way side. Once again just a general statement regarding the state of thr world. The first victim did the right thing and stated it was an accident and sadly this gentleman won't be able to say his peace.

As far as bigger railings, no matter how high the railings are, you are going to have someone reach over and attempt to get the ball. The fever A damn baseball is insane.

Once again, still a terrible tragedy especially for a fellow first responder and hero.

Terrible news. Can imagine Josh Hamilton is feeling pretty sh*tty right now, even though you cannot blame him.

His son was there :(

This may stop balls being thrown into the seats. Especially high seats. If I were a player I would certainly think twice about it after two incidents of it happening.

Why cant they put cushings on the ground so incase someone falls it would break the fall,

Because of this, the son will grow up to be a psychopathic baseball player serial killer. Seriously though, I hope he is to young fully grasp the situation and death. But with video technology being what it is these days, I don't know if it'll matter. The footage will be sitting on YouTube forever and it will just be a few clicks away for him to watch it.

This will probably haunt Hamilton for the rest of his life. I went to a vocational rehab program 15 years ago and took 2 city buses to get there. I happened to miss the bus one day and a guy that rides with me on the 2nd leg who also went to the vocational rehab center was hit by a brown 80's Toyota minivan crossing Commercial blvd after he got off. I can't help wondering if I could've saved him if I was there. But in all likelihood I wouldn't have been able to because we were usually yards apart from each other when we crossed. But part of me will always wonder( just like Hamilton will wonder what might've happened if he'd thrown the ball differently or not at all). The mental scar would be much worse if I had been there to see it happen so it was probably better that I wasn't there. It should be noted that he was mentally challenged which was likely a factor. Every so often when I'm crossing a highway on my bike or on foot, I think about it. Also every time i see an 80's Toyota minivan.

When I was about 10, I fell out of a tree 10-15 feet and hit the street head first. I don't know how I wasn't paralyzed. But I did fracture my neck.

I agree people need to be more careful. I can however see how this guy got caught up in the situation. There with his little boy, Hamilton tosses a ball up and what a great memory he and more so his son will have.

Very Sad....

Really feel bad for the young boy

yep that sums it up right there.

God, such a sad accident... 6 year-old son right next to him, jeez....

wtf

I'm sorry but is a ball worth dying for.

wtf

I'm not necessary understanding what the "wtf" is coming from. I have already stated that this is a general statement to the state of affairs and in no way what so every is meant to diminish the death of this gentleman. It's a terrible tragedy for all involved and my statement does by change that and I'm not looking down on the man.

But you have to look ahead from tragedy in hopes of preventing it again.

People treat a baseball like a sacred idol. I'm just waiting to see what happens with these golden baseballs at the home run derby. That's where it's goin to have to start. There's not much more to say on it.

Video link update:

Dude, can you ... take that down? Please? Knowing the guy passed away, that video makes me kinda... sick... especially with his little kid there.

Nothing against you, but...please?
