June 6, 201214 yr Tallon re-signed to multi year extension and has ade offers to Versteeg and clemmensen while also preparing offers for garrison and samuelsson. The offer to Clem shows that they think marks from needs one more year and I hope garrison, versteeg, and samuelsson are all back. Still have some changes to make though. Can't go in with the same team.
June 6, 201214 yr Author I think aGM Mike Santos (just accidentally wrote Mike Stantos lol) already made some comments a few weeks ago about Markstrom spending another year. Goalies are a rare breed. Look at guys like Quick. None of them emerge at such a young age, really.
June 8, 201214 yr Panthers are rumored to be one of the finalists in the Roberto Luongo sweepstakes. Yuck. Don't need him. Don't want him.
June 14, 201214 yr Author Is there going to be a lockout? No way Jose Theodore. Well... if the NHL hasn't learned by now...
June 19, 201214 yr Gary Bettman sucks! Just wanted to get that off my chest. You can't post it on the NHL site.
June 20, 201214 yr According to George Richards and Harvey Fialkov, Tallon has made an offer to Jason Garrison and will meet with his agent tomorrow.
June 20, 201214 yr And then they will decline the offer, and then Tallon will say they're asking for too much, and then Garrison will go to the Rangers, and then and then and then
June 21, 201214 yr And then they will decline the offer, and then Tallon will say they're asking for too much, and then Garrison will go to the Rangers, and then and then and then Umm, you're thinking about the previous regimes. I have confidence that Dale will get the best deal possible. Even if he has to replace Garrison.
June 30, 201214 yr Where we stand: - Resigning Garrison isn't looking likely. It's likely he'll get around $5 million in FA and I can understand Tallon not wanting to invest that much into Jason with only one solid offensive year in the books. He's got a great shot, but we have a few promising defense prospects that will make his departure a little less hurtful. - Kulikov and Versteeg will likely be signed before Sunday. - Luongo is looking like a reality for us and could happen as soon as tomorrow. Considering the fact that we don't really need him, Tallon doesn't have to give up our future to bring him back. It also helps that Luongo reportedly prefers to come here and the Canucks just signed Schneider to a multiyear deal. - Broduer is also rumored to move on to a different team next season and could take his talents to Sunrise. - We could be interested in bringing Olli Jokinen back. He's not the same goalscorer he was a few years ago, but he'd probably still lead our team in points. Big help on the PP. - Gudbranson is still awesome.
June 30, 201214 yr Author A lot of wtf going on right now for the Panthers, but in a very interesting way.

I think this is part of the plan for Tallon in that he knew that he would start bringing up the young prospects when guys began to hit FA. So everything is going according to plan as far the Garrison thing goes. I think he was prepared either way if he resigned Garrison or not. And I honestly don't see why Luongo is even on our radar. We are moving onward and upward, signing him would only to be helping Luongo out. We are not the rest of the league's doormat anymore. We are set with goaltending unless Luongo wants to go down to the minors and stay there just in case we need a call-up. Plus his contract, who needs that? Not the Panthers. Again I say don't need him, don't want him.
June 30, 201214 yr Yea I really don't see a need for Luongo and would much rather that money go elsewhere. Pretty shocked tallon would want such a handicapping contract.
June 30, 201214 yr Author A move for Luongo would only be acceptable if it also allowed us to unload Jovo and Upshall to Vancouver. And a move for Luongo would only be because we're afraid of the injuries that Markstrom could potentially keep on facing for the rest of his career.

And a move for Luongo would only be because we're afraid of the injuries that Markstrom could potentially keep on facing for the rest of his career. Vancouver would never take Jovo and upshall and I'm not ready to give up on upshall. He showed up nicely in the playoffs and if he stays healthy he could be a big player for us. I also doubt they trade Jovo with his contract but he sure as hell better get a lot more than 13 f***ing points next year.

Jovo is reportedly a great locker room leader and supposed to mentor Gudbranson. I doubt he's going anywhere. Moving Upshall makes more sense. We're not going to give up the farm for Luongo, but we aren't getting him for free either. Expect a package of Matthias, Upshall and maybe a 2nd going to the Canucks. I'd do that in a heartbeat for a goalie of Luongo's caliber.
June 30, 201214 yr Author Yeah, Jovo's poor play has nothing to do with 13 points. It's the fact that he's old and sucks defensively. I still like the guy, but his contract is nasty. They're not trading him though, as gizmo said he's not going anywhere. I was just dreaming because I'd totally do that trade in a heartbeat. I'd do that trade as well. Well... I'd avoid the 2nd round pick being shipped out. But yeah, I'd do that trade for sure. Getting rid of Matthias and Upshall and inheriting Luongo's contract offsets, and then we can either buy something nice for us in the FA market such as a Parise (if Garrison doesn't re-sign), or we have room for guys like Howden and Huberdeau.
