July 3, 201214 yr Likewise. I'd be thrilled with just about any trade taking on Upshall's contract, at this point. Upshall actually has a no movement clause according to cap geek. And does anyone know what the team is looking to spend. I think they have about 9 million before the floor. I believe they're spending $60 million. Forgot where I read that, but I've seen it on more than one occasion.
July 3, 201214 yr Plus moving Upshall and Matthias makes room for the kids. And as strange as it sounds, I'm hoping Skille stays healthy this season. He really adds a spark to the game, despite his lack of finishing.
July 3, 201214 yr Author Skille's fine simply because he fits a 4th line player. Matthias is caught somewhere between a 3rd and 4th line center, but has the potential to be a 2nd line center in the future which we simply don't have room for at this point. And f*** it, in the future we have guys like Shore and Huberdeau who will fill up the center spot... the only center we'd need right now is a 1st line center or none at all. We have talent to trade around with. Matthias isn't that highly valued, but there's nothing wrong with letting him go.
July 3, 201214 yr We need scoring. Where's Pavel Bure when you need him? But seriously I think Tallon is looking at two or three years from now before he thinks the team will start to contend so he's not going to go after the big FA or the big trade until then at least. That will be just to supplement what we have here. It's all about building through the draft. And so he is just letting that take it's course and on top of that foundation he is going to lay the big FA's and the big trades. With gudbranson and potential Howden and huberdeau ready the time to add a key free agent is now. We can't afford to miss the playoffs anymore. I think Huberdeau and Howden could very well be our acquisitions, based on Tallon's interview today. What interview was that? I didn't see it. It's on the main site. floridapanthers.com, Tallon conference call from yesterday. Also interviews with Clemmensen and Parros if you want to hear those. Thanks buddy.

So that gives us some money to use I guess. I'm just itching for a nice move.
July 3, 201214 yr As things stand right now... Flash-Weiss-Versteeg Bergenheim-Goc-Huberdeau Howden-Matthias-Upshall Kopecky-Smithson-Skille/Parros Santorelli is one of the extra forwards (gonna be traded, waived, or...well, he's just not gonna be here)...feel like I'm missing someone. Campbell-Kuba Kulikov-Weaver Jovo-Gudbranson Keaton Ellerby and Tyson Strachan still on the team, as well. Theodore-Clemmensen
July 3, 201214 yr ^Because he's better than what we have... The way I see is that the Panthers are not close to winning a cup right now so I don't see why they would want to give up any assets to bring in a guy or two here and there.

Well, Tallon has already said that he's not willing to give up the future; if a trade is made, I wouldn't expect Vancouver to get what they're asking for in return.

We almost beat the team that went to the cup. No one thought the kings would win either. Make your team as good as possible and go for it. You should expect to win.

That's true, but as a Panthers fan I'm just worried about them going back to what they were, a franchise just spinning it's wheels. And that's the danger when you go all out to win now and don't make it.

Theodore-Clemmensen I really think Goc as 2C and starting Huberdeau out of his position is a bad idea. Defense is set for the most part I guess... (Suter plz?)... just need a forward or two and to dump a forward or two.

Panthers will probably sign another center and move Goc back to the 3rd line. Hopefully.
July 4, 201214 yr Absolutely shocked that the wild pulled off Parise and Suter. I knew Parise was from Minneapolis but I didn't think he would actually go there. Huge pickups for the wild. Good thing they didn't go to an east team.
July 5, 201214 yr With Parise and Suter going to the Wild, should we start up the 2012-2013 Florida Panthers/NHL Thread?

July 5, 201214 yr Do I get to make the GYT because we had a winning season last year? If you want, son.
July 5, 201214 yr Author Matt Carle sucks. Especially at that price. Well, sucks might not be fair but he's totally overrated and a huge product of a phenomenal Philadelphia Flyers team. Laughable that he got more than Garrison over 6 years.
July 5, 201214 yr Versteeg elects arbitration. I don't think that is good for long term deal prospects.
July 5, 201214 yr Versteeg elects arbitration. I don't think that is good for long term deal prospects. It's not as big of deal as it seems. He may just be doing it as a security blanket and so no other team can offer sheet him. I'm sure something will get worked out by then.
