July 6, 201214 yr Does anyone see us maybe getting Semin? Would love to have his scoring ability. Seems like he's the best guy out there now. After versteeg and kulikov sign hopefully we may have room if we don't get Luongo. That assuming we are going to spend 60 million like reports have suggested.

He's going to most likely go to a cup contender, best guess Detroit.
July 6, 201214 yr Author If anyone, I see us getting Semin. He's an opportunistic player that might be had for cheaper than he's worth due to the media sh*tting on him for being Russian and egotistic. Of course, I expect another team to bid up on him anyways despite that... so I still don't see us getting him. But if there were a big name player for us to get I'd say it's him, Dale Tallon player or not.
July 6, 201214 yr I don't think we get Semin, no. I think his reported character issues will make Tallon hesitate, especially since Semin will probably end up getting a franchise player cap hit contract this offseason. Most teams that wanted Parise and didn't get him will probably be after Semin. I'd trade Kulikov for offense but that's just my opinion.

Had he stayed healthy last year he could have had 37-40 points. I think if he stays healthy we could see that amount from him this year if not more. Remember that guys like Jovo and weaver aren't going to be doing much scoring. We definitely have guys like bergenheim, upshall, goc, and kopecky that are capable of some good scoring but we can't put it all on the top line and a 19 year old huberdeau. I do think a few trades might be coming but it's going pretty slow right now.
July 6, 201214 yr Bergenheim, Upshall, Goc, Kopecky...none of those guys are top-6 players with the exception of maybe Bergenheim with a good playmaking center on his line. I know Kulikov is young and puts up points, but you have to give to get. He's our player of value and I'd much rather have a top forward. I also think Kulikov is a tad overrated. I feel like a lot of his points are secondary assists and I think he's prone to too many mistakes (probably because of youth). He was horrendous in the playoff series against the Devils, for what it's worth. I also don't like the idea of spending a ton of money on the defense and Kulikov's payday is coming. Jovo's not going anywhere, Campbell's not going anywhere (which is good)...I feel like it's too much money on the defense combined with the other guys. Signing Ellerby today = 8 D-men on a one-way contract. Too many, at least one is getting traded. For what it's worth, I like the way Tyson Strachan played in his time here last year so my confidence in him and the depth of the defense overall makes me feel alright about trading Kuli for offense.
July 6, 201214 yr ----> and that's especially so if we trade for better goaltending. *Luongo* I read today that it might be elderly as the one who gets traded. But I would hate to trade kulikov and watch him blossom into a 45-50 point defenseman.
July 6, 201214 yr Author I'm not for trading Kulikov. Campbell's not young, he's 33. He's got stuff left in the tank, but I can only imagine that he's paving the way for Kulikov. Plus our defense just took a big enough hit with the loss of Garrison. Kuba was a good re-addition to make up for the loss, but it's not the same. I'm for unloading a prospect or two, honestly. We've got so many, the bottom line is that over the next 3 years there wont be 5 or 6 spots on the roster to fill up. They'll have to be moved eventually. Not that our pool has some guaranteed 5 or 6 NHL players (nothing is guaranteed)... but these guys will be looking for a shot to play. I'm for trading Rocco 'Cogs for Christ' Grimaldi.
July 6, 201214 yr Author Good news is that if you like to dream like me, getting Luongo and Semin is, cap space wise, actually possible for the Panthers.
July 6, 201214 yr Author 'drama'. There's like 5 posts on it. Somehow I think this isn't being hyped up as much as it should be.
July 6, 201214 yr I have a feeling Luongo will be a Panther. My sources are just a little worse than squall's. #1 is going to be back in net here. Book it. Book. It. #isoundlikeskipbaylessnow
July 7, 201214 yr 5 posts... on HF. I meant. More here lol. Have you been over to the main Free Agent board on HF? They are on thread number 20 of Luongo speculation since the end of the season. The "hype" as you call it has died down a bit because no one knows anything anymore. But from what it sounded like on that radio interview that Luongo did, he's done with Vancouver. Gillis practically has no leverage in the trade at all. At least not with us. He could still go to Toronto, unless he really prefers to be back here with his wife.
July 7, 201214 yr Author What else am I reading? The Panthers section? Yeah... if I wanted news a week late. 20 threads of pure bulls***. It's just a bunch of Canucks fans and Leafs fans having at each other. There's no actual news. No drama. Nothing.

True, a lot of it is random bickering and horrible trade proposals but there's just so much unknown in what will finally happen. Plus, you have to wonder if Tallon is waiting for this to resolve before he can perhaps look to trade for a real 2C and not rely on 2-3 rookies for offense. Luongo's 10 year cap hit could affect how much money he as to sign or trade other players. Not to mention the resigning of Versteeg and Kulikov (and Weiss next year).
